James Rodney Sims is a Scammer who pretends to be an Actor who lives between Los Angeles, West Hollywood, New York and Georgia who specializes in Posting ads of Apartments on Craiglist, and then Collecting Deposits including First Month and Last Month and then dissapearing. He has done this to me and several freiends and we have pending Civil Actions against him.

My personal experience was that I needed a sublet in West Hollywood. I contacted James on Creigslist and we met. Everything seemed on the up and up at first then when it came time for me to move in, he said he needed to sleep on the couch for a few days. Then abruptly tried to kick me out because I answered the door. When I answered the door, it was a Notary serving him two different Civil action lawsuits for over $5k for doing this to two other people. I asked him about it and he told me I had to leave at once and that I wasn't entitled to a refund for questioning his character. Lol. Yeah right. The West Hollywood Sherrifs let me stay after they arrived and when he heard me calling them, he ran away. Thank God I got him to Sign an agreement.

I got nervous the way he ran, so I decided a online search. I managed to uncover an online trove of his Financial Scamming and Crimes History. He was indicted by the FBI and Secret Service for Credit Card Fraud and Using Card Cloning Devices in the Eastern Division of Oklahoma .fbi.gov/oklahomacity/press-releases/2015/five-individuals-indicted-in-july-2015-federal-grand-jury and is currently awaiting sentencing while he keeps scamming people off of Craigslist. He is also known to resell Stolen property. If anyone meets him, Run or call the FBI or Secret Service or you may regret it. Defineltley don't give him any money for anything let alone an aprtment.

The other two co-defendants got the same exact sentence as him so he "snitched" on his accomplices to get the exact same sentence as them? The law doesnt work that way. His criminal charges seem to be the only factual thing in this whole report.

You can't sue for Defamation if it's true...

Furthermore, James Rodeny Sims is currently on Federal Probation so what that means is that if anyone files criminal theft charges with their Local Police Department such as the LAPD and brings it to Court as a Criminal case rather than a Civil case, the chances that he will have to do time will be greater.

FYI...I beleive the Reason he only got a slap on the wrist for using Stolen Credit Cards is becuase his mom is a Federal Parole Officer and I am pretty certain that he tesitified agaist his accomplices. More than likely he is also a Snitch although only The Secret Service would be able to confirm that.

It is a shame that he continues to scam people for Housing when the Vacancy rate is so low. It's time to put him away.

This happened to me as well with James Sims. Advertised a place to rent for a month, said he'd be gone for the month and needed to rent his room while he was gone. Everything seemed cool, he asked for the check early to pay the rent. But when the day came to move in, everything changed. He was mean and telling me he wasnt leaving and not to tell his roommate I was there. Eventually he said he'd rather cancel cause "I wasn't being an adult" and that he'd refund me the money. Except that he never did refund the money. Just poor excuse after poor excuse. He refuses to use Venmo, PayPal. Doesn't know how to wire money or transfer it. Won't go to the bank. Constantly blames it on me that he's "ready to pay" but cant get me the money despite me giving him all the info he needs. Then I dont hear from him for days. And it's the same sad excuse. He's a con artist par excellence. Stay away from him at all costs.

I was supposed to rent the room from him in November. I checked out the place and didn't nothing seemed off. I paid him to move in on the 7th. When it came time to move in he gave me excuses on why I couldn't move in yet until he finally made up an excuse that I couldn't move in anymore. When asked to refund my money he refused. I have since filed a suit against him and am waiting to settle it in court.
