I purchased a used Toyota from James Toyota/Scion in Flemington, NJ on June 22nd, 2007 and traded in my 2005 Toyota in return with a down payment to cover the difference in depreciation. My next payment was not due untill July 5th 2007, with a grace period of July 15th 2007. It has been three weeks since I purchased the vehicle and the payoff still has not been made on the Toyota. I called the dealership many times and only was able to reach the Finance manager once in which he told me that the check was ready to be sent out. That was June 6th 2007. It is now June 13th 2007, and my Toyota has not been paid off and this dealership does not return my phone calls eventhough I leave constant voicemails. According to the contract, the payoff of the Toyota is a term of the contract and thus since this term has not been met, the contract can be terminated. I like my car, but I am not going to let someone's lack of responsibility ruin my credit rating. I liked this dealership when I went, but now I regret ever going there and would not recommend anyone do further business with them considering my current situation.

My experience

Desert Toyota of Tucson 6/28/2007

About a week ago my father took a 2003 Corolla CE and auto trans in very good condition Kelley Blue Book trade in value is top in excellent Condition with 50,000 mi. is. $9,675.00 on todays date. Good is $9,020.00 and fair is 7,900.00. The 2003 Toyota Corolla was paid for in full at time of purchase!

They sold him a new 2007 Corolla CE with the big option of electric windows and auto trans. That same car you can build on Toyota a 2008 and it cost $16,645.00. So they had my father of 76 years, thats on a fixed income, give them his old car and right out a check for $13,000.00. So this has made me write this so others beware. His car was in excellent condition. But if you take the Good and the check he paid $22,020.00 for a $16,645.00 car, thats a $5375.00 Deference, enough to make up for taxes or license.

I called the Customer Experience Center at Toyota.com And I talked to a guy that listened to what I had to say and then gave me a reference number. I was told someone would call from Desert Toyota in customer relations in 3 business days its been 5 still no call!

Toyota Corporation is well aware of the many, many problems at their Dealer Network all over the Country. Toyota's ex- CEO, Mr. Funo, and their current CEO have received MANY letters with proof of what is taking place and they are not acting appropriately. Toyota's lack of response tells you what they REALLY think of their customers. Exposure to what is taking place is the only way to change things for the better. Go to www.9news.com and type in the name ORNELAS and search the story that made the FRONT PAGE of the Denver Post on 5-19-2005 and read the story and WATCH THE VIDEO. We rest our case.

They claim now that the check was sent out on July 11th, so only time will tell. I will be contacting Toyota Financial to verify next week. If they did send the check out, then the issue has been resolved. Late, but still resolved.
