Jamie Stanford is a dishonest and deceitful person who hides behind “God” and “Church.”  Don’t let the Jesus ring tone fool you.  First of all he portrays himself as a designer, but to my knowledge he has no design experience or schooling.  Second he portrayed himself to me as being in “business for a while” when in fact his business was established in October 2014.  Third, he is operating as a “contractor” and has no license to do so, nor does he hire licensed contractors.

I had remodeled my kitchen a few years back and I thought I was savvy regarding who I hired.  I was going to go with a big company but met Jamie at the home show in West Palm Beach.  After speaking with him, I hired him to remodel my master and guest bath.  Hiring Jamie was a nightmare and a big mistake.  Jamie made numerous mistakes with my remodeling.  He inflated the prices of the vanities, plumber, tile, and demolition.  Standard industry practice is to increase the price 10-30% maximum, but Jamie increased the prices on my master bath vanities 69% and my guest bath 62% which is outrageous.  Jamie quoted a tile installation from a license tile installer, but then switched, stating he was using someone else, and I later found out after having problems with my tile that he was NOT licensed.  In his quote he left out things like “fixing the wall and painting” which are always included in a quote, then charges you later. If you have EVER remodeled, fixing the walls after a demolition and painting are always included.  This is how he is deceptive.  He also charged me for items that he didn’t even order i.e. I was charged for my guest bath tile, plumbing supplies, vanity etc…and he never order them, who does that??

He made several errors in the tear down of my master bath.  He had me order a tub that clearly was too big.  The plumber had to move the plumbing and the area was tiled to put in the free standing tub.  When I could clearly see that the tub was too big, he insisted it looked “ok.”  I didn’t pay for “ok.”  I had to rip out the tile and have the plumber come back to reset it. He changed the wall tile in my shower without asking me and stated it was discontinued (I later found out that it wasn’t, it he probably got tile cheaper than what I already paid him, thus making money on me).  Then he put a niche in my shower that was off center and looked ridiculous, which I make him do correctly.  I had to work with the tile installer myself to make it work so that it was in the middle of the wall as it should be.

He also picked out tile and cabinets that are less than what he quotes so that he can make money, he will switch companies and go with cheaper products, but charge you the same amount.  When I confronted him on changing the wall tile, he stated “I made a decision to do it and didn’t want to bother you on your trip.”  The tile he switched to wasn’t even the same color!  The tile I picked was beige and what he picked was grey and wasn’t even the same type of pattern.  He insisted that it was the same but he didn’t realize I had the pictures of all the items I picked out.  He also had to change the decorative wall tile in my shower because the one I had originally picked out wasn’t going to work (even though he insisted it would), but he failed to make sure it matched the shower floor tile.  It is horrible, please look at the pictures and decide for yourself.  Because of all this, I had to rip out the entire decorative wall and pick something that matched (I did this after firing him off the job).  As they were removing the decorative tile, the tiles surrounding it were popping off!  They didn’t use the correct adhesive and they were just falling off the wall.  He also left a “cut” in my floor tile which was an eyesore.  The tile has vertical lines, but the cut went horizontal, which makes no sense.  Pictures are attached.

As for my guest bath, which I wanted to convert the tub to a shower, he didn’t measure the bath correctly and ordered a vanity that was TOO big.  There was barely any room for the toilet and the shower would have only been 30.”  I had to pay for 2 smaller cabinets and I have requested the money back for the cabinets that he ordered, that were too big.

Although I fired Jamie midway through before he could make any more egregious mistakes, I had to get my money back from him for the items I paid for and he did not order, and for the labor and cost of repairing/replacing the tile for the above. He dragged out paying me for weeks.  He made excuses that he was “busy” had to be in church all day etc…While I was lucky to get my money back after many threats of legal action etc… I want others to beware, and all I can say is you are better off going to a reputable kitchen and bath company than to have to go through what I did, it is not worth it – trust me.  Jamie Sanford is NOT LICENSED as a contractor and violates building codes, so please do not use him, you will be sorry.  This has been one of the most horrible experiences I have had.

The invoices for the vanities that you overcharged didn't seem to get attached to my recent rebuttal report.  Attached will be the invoices for anyone to see that you charged me 50% more than you paid!

Jamie Sanford Kitchen & Bath Still a Liar

Jamie,

My original report was filed back in July and you are now responding? How funny.  I will go ahead and set the record straight regarding your continued lies.  First of all the tile you changed in my master bath was not discontinued, because I ordered it for my guest bath and is installed.  Second you did inflate the price of the cabinets 50%.  Just talking about my Master Bath, I paid 3549 to you and you paid 1860 (see attached documentation and invoice).  Do the math.  You can't lie with acutal documentation!  And third, as far as the tile goes I did NOT use Marcelo to do my tile in my guest bath, I used a gentleman named Celso, who was outstanding and had to fix what Marcelo did!  I would have thought you would have learned that you shouldn't lie and deceive; however, it appears you have not.

#4REBUTTAL Owner of company

Elaine, I regret that we had problems on your project. I work hard to make sure my clients get a quality job, because customer satisfaction is the only way to progress in business.

I regret changing the tile without your permission, and I have learned my lesson and will not do that again. The original tile you selected however was discontinued. The original quote I gave you for the cabinets was exactly what I was being charged, and the employee that gave you the information about the cabinets knows that was the price, as well as the tile being discontinued. The tile Installer I used was better than the original person, for less money which I passed on to you with a discount. My understanding is you used his company for your guest bath after we decided not to work together. Once you asked for your money back, it was refunded in 5 business days.

Lessons learned: I will always consult the client now on any changes, and have hired a new project manager who is a G.C., that will point out things like the shower for your guest bath. I do apologize for the inconvenience. If you would like to discuss anything further with me, please send me a message. Thank you.
