Janet ashforth habitats tiny homes Rip off, Liar, theif, criminal, scandal, inconsistency of truth or professional San diego county, California Internet
I had interest in this womans company because i was looking for a more affordable housing option since i was pregnant with our first child. We did a bit of research & thought the habitats tiny homes owned by Janet ashforth was a possibly suitable living arrangement, issue is the website is very bland and non informative. The page claims due to so much interest they are only disclosing certain important info to people who place a $1000.00 deposit on their tiny home. We placed our deposit and it was MONTHS before we even heard from her , we then finally got our opportunity to get answers we paid for and when we went she had changed 80% of the information that she posted online prior to our decision on placing deposit one being location , other being toilet options we had a flush option that was not available anymore she said if u arent comfortable with the new zone rules of the facility ill refund the depsoit we said yes we would like that. Also she said the only financing option is to go find our own loan and give her 50% upfront! We said we cant qualify for a loan like that but would talk to our parents and see . she said if it dont work out ill cut you a check for the deposit. We emailed her and called her many times she began acting rude and vulgar and we soon realized she was avoiding paying us back by making up more and more stipulations on the return of our money. We had played it her way for months now and finally when it became undeniable she was a con artist she began ignoring us all together . now we have lost our $1000.00 deposit that is rightfully ours and was promised to be returned . i hope she gets investigated and has to pay back triple what she has stolen from innocent people trying to get a home. Im certain she has done this to most of her customers probably more then less .The BBB needs to help us and i need otherd to step forward and participate in suing her or whatever we must to expose this woman who i looked and now is requiring $ 1500 deposit and has changed the location 3 times with no progress in tye build its all a lie no community is being purchased . she only had successfully done homes for people that dont plan to live on the facility and the deposit is for your spot in this community she is building.

I can understand your frustration and fear. I had been trying for 8 years to build a cohousing community in Phoenix, AZ. We didn't have Venture Capitalists, or a heavily backed investor. Cohousing like the tiny house movement is an "off beat" out of the ordinary concept and its extremely difficult to raise money and convince city/county folks that we are not a bunch of hippie dippie people....
I worked on this idea without pay for 8 years because I believed in the concept and truly wanted to create community in Phoenix. I can understand your fear around the $1,000 but consider how much time and effort this woman has put into this idea without being paid. She has been on track with this concept for over 2 years and no salary. You want something easy, something assured go buy a tract home. You want to be on the cutting edge with tiny home living or cohousing, you have to take risks and it takes time and it takes flexability to work with city/county zoning laws.
