Twice the loss

Back in the summer of 2016 I decided to get engaged. The plan was to view the selected items that we had found online. We had a budget set and wanted to find something well balanced. Upon entering the shop, we had no intentions of staying long with groceries sitting in the car. We were created then sat down in an office. We explained that we wanted to see the items listed and needed to get going since we had the groceries in the back.

The sales counselor ignored all the items selected and found something similar that would require a 2ct center stone or larger to look decent. She then proceeded to double the amount of our budget by the end and told us if we buy today we would save 10% on the purchase.

I decided to move forward because my girlfriend at the time looked so happy with her choice and I did not want to take that from her. Not only did they work us over on the numbers, they never provided the 10% discount. Jared refused to refund the 10% on the almost $20,000 purchase... they refused to take it back under one month after their return policy.

I tried several times to get this resolved and continued to be ignored or told no. I think everyone should avoid Jared and their thieving ways.

This is what happens when you treat a Life-Changing decision like picking up lunch at your local Fast Food Resturant. No one with any common sense just decides to pop-in on the way home from the grocery store and pick up an engagement ring.  Traditionalist would even wonder why she was with you in the first place. Why weren't you doing this on your own?

Even if everything went perfectly and the sales person showed you exactly what you picked out, to be done right the entire process would still have taken more time than you would want your groceries to be in the car.  Unless you were also going to stop by the Court House on the way home, you did not need a ring that day and could have walked out at any time.  Since you did have your Girlfriend there, and presumably she knew your budget, knew it wasn't one of the one's you had already picked out, she should have understood why you at least needed to think about this a bit more.

Your only valid complaint may be the 10%, but that all depends on excactly how that was to be given.

Can we say that since you posted this almost two years later, that this Girlfriend is no longer in the picture?
