On or about July 24, 2000, the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners (CBCE) received a complaint of insurance fraud perpetrated by licensee, Jason Lawrence Meyer and opened its own investigation against Dr. Meyer for such a charge.  The board case number is 2000-137.

The findings of the state board disclosed that Dr. Meyer had engaged in workers compensation insurance fraud where he knowingly billed an insurance company in the amount of $19,405.90.  It was found that he purposefully falsified the date of injury in the paperwork for one of his patients in order to inflate the bill in the doctors favor.

Two years prior to the filing of the board complaint, an article in the LA Times (http://goo.gl/r4Qrz) reported that Dr. Meyers patient, Wilbur D. Mace of Northridge, plead guilty to insurance fraud in July, 1998 and implicated the doctor who conspired with him to bilk the insurance company for nearly $20,000.  It was that same month that Dr. Meyer plead guilty to criminal charges of conspiracy and workers compensation insurance fraud in a Ventura County, California court.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the CBCE found Dr. Meyer guilty of ethics charges of insurance fraud, suspended his license to practice chiropractic, placed him on a 5-year probation, and fined him $1986.00.

Since the conclusion of his probation, Dr. Meyer had moved to the Fort Worth, Texas area to open up clinics.  He may be using the alias "Larry Meyer" or "Lawrence Meyer" in order to separate himself from his former identity of Jason L. Meyer, the California white collar criminal.

It is believed that he may be seeking re-licensure here in his home state of California since a petition to revoke probation with the state board was submitted in August 16, 2010 but never approved.

On August 19, 2011, over a year after his petition, he voluntarily surrendered his license to practice chiropractic in California.

Please note that insurance fraud is a very serious crime that is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

If you are ever associated with Dr. Jason Lawrence Meyer or his businesses, be aware that he has a very checkered past.

Questions For The Reporter

#4Consumer Comment

Thu, March 22, 2012

I have a few questions for the person making the complaint: Are you the retired California Judge Thomas Johnson?  If you are, I am curious why any officer of the court would continue to disparage someone who has paid their debt to society?  Just wondering.
Second, if you are just an "ordinary citizen", how do this doctor's actions involve you?  Why "pursue" him to Texas?  What have been the conclusions to your calls to Austin?  Did you even call Austin?
Third, please elaborate on your statement "very checkered past".  This seems to be hyperbole considering you have mentioned only ONE conviction and no other accusations nor unlawful acts.
Fourth, why do you include his home addresses, email, etc., and why make unfounded claims about property?  How does this information pertain to his conviction in California or his practice here?
I am honestly interested in Dr. Jason Meyer and would like to know if he is an honest practitioner.  The conviction is serious, but this "report" sounds like a "hit job".  Please be open, honest, and civil in your response.  Thanks!

To ensure that everybody knows who Jason Lawrence Meyer is, here is his picture.  If you are dealing with him, you are dealing with a white collar criminal. He is a graduate of Buena High School in Ventura, California in 1988 and Palmer College West in 1994. Insurance fraud is a felony!

Real estate properties illegally obtained

I wonder how much of his real estate was acquired with illegally obtained funds?  Perhaps that is why his businesses are registered under his wife's name, Mia K. Meyer, and not his?

Keep away from this chiropractor, Jason Lawrence Meyer.  He is a crook who tried to pull one over a workers compensation insurance company back in 1997.  You can be sure that the Texas board will find out about his insurance fraud scam if they don't know about it already.

We have made a few phone calls to the state board in Austin, Texas.  Insurance fraud is NOT a joke!
