JC Penney Optical -anti-reflective Coating Keeps Peeling OFF Waited THREE months for glasses and then coating spot peels--Are these made in CHINA? Sacramento California
September 21,2008 I ordered special glasses at a BIG sale with designer frames. These are NOT the frames they always carry in the store. The demo frames in the burgundy color had a rhinestone missing. I waited and waited. Finally, about November they gave me a pair of glasses --THE DEMO GLASS FRAMES WITH THE RHINESTONE MISSING! I complained, called their headquarters and threw a hissy fit and finally got a new pair of frames with all the rhinestones in them. Within four months I noticed that I could not seem to get the lenses clean. I asked my son to clean them for me and he said he thought the anti-reflective coating was coming off. I took them back to Penney's and they ordered me new lenses. I've been wearing the second set of lenses for a few months. The coating is again coming off.
Let me say this is NOT a result of the cleaner I am using as I'm using it on all the glasses I've ever had! Even my sunglasses. However, the coating is again peeling in such a manner that it is affecting my vision. I am constantly thinking I need to clean my glasses.
Since Penney's took FOREVER to get my lenses, I'm wondering WHERE the lenses are made and what kind of quality check they go through. I've never had Penney's optical before and although I love the frames, I'm very VERY dis-satisfied with the QUALITY of the lenses.
I WILL go back to the store again. They have always been nice. I don't believe it is the fault of the clerk that the materials used are such poor quality. But I PAID for the anti-glare/reflective coating and I think I should GET IT.
