JD Byrider seems like a saviour to those of us with credit problems, but beware, they will sell you a piece of junk at a greatly inflated price with extreme interest on top of that. The salesman seems so helpful in 'helping' you to obtain better credit while putting you in a vehicle, when in actuality, they could care less once they get your signature and you drive the crap off the lot.
My mother lives with me, on a fixed income, and I was her co-signer to get a decent running vehicle...like many others on this site, we were offered a "choice" of only like 2 cars...chose a '96 Chevy Lumina, and almost from the beginning, it had one expensive problem after another-which ByRider of course throws their hands in the air like the morons that they are and plead innocence to knowing they were selling you a lemon from the start. They will do anything to make the sale...we expected the higher interest rate, and had no problem with that...but we expected to get a car that wasn't a total piece of junk...it is only a 1996 and in less than a year we shelled out well over $1000 in repairs...
the final straw came when we hadn't even had this car a year when we were told by a mechanic that it needed all new injectors and a master cyllanoid-to the tune of about $1100...we couldn't afford to keep throwing money into this car and finally determined we had no other option buy to turn it back to the dealer...which we did...well, the problem is now that we are constantly harrassed by an extremely abusive man in collections named Joe Sanchez...threatening to send us to jail, etc...he even called 2 of our references 2000 miles away-elderly relatives and said that he was going to throw us in jail...did they want that to happen???
All because we are not returning his harassing phone calls...he has called me at work, attempting to get me in trouble...despite telling him to not call. I reported him to his manager, David, and it was not very helpful. I feel like this jerk was totally abusive because my mother and I live alone and I seriously doubt he would be like that to some big bruiser who would come down there and kick his butt for the kind of treatment we have had to endure....
the final straw was today when he called me at work, and I was upset enough to come home from work. Not only does Byrider KNOWINGLY sell lemons, they sell them at highly inflated prices and they fully expect to take me to court-THROW ME IN JAIL-as he told my relatives-for a remaining balance of over $6000 on a car that is crap and is only worth maybe $1000 tops with all the problems it has...I hope others will learn from all the info on this website-they are a national company, well versed in how to rip off and then go after people who mistakenly had a little trust in someone trying to HELP them...If I thought there was a way to file against the extreme abusiveness of Joe Sanchez I would...any ideas?

I have worked for car dealerships in the past, and I find that consumers need to take more responsibility for the vehicles themselves. Cars break down. This is an unavoidable fact. When someone puts 30000 miles a year on a car and never changes the oil, there is going to be problems. I have done business with jdbyrider in the past and i have found them to be honest. Do they have problems with cars sometimes. Yes. It happens. They do stand behind their vehicles, but even jdbyrider cannot continue to fix vehicles that are abused by their customers. People must realize that these vehicles are 6 or 7 years old and must be maintained. I'm sorry people sometimes have problems, but they need to realize that the upkeep and maintenence of their vehicle should be their responsibility.

This comment goes solely to the problem of you being harassed. In most states if you give references those references can be check and information exchanged. Usually you won't get any legal help when a company calls your reference and imparts information. But, as the other writer suggested, it doesn't do any harm to check your legal position on that.
As I said, let me discuss the harassment. Here you can do something regardless of what state you're in. There are both state and federal laws to prevent what is happing to you. They are also laws that have some teeth. Here is the first thing you have to do. You know the local company and the names of the people harassing you. Take the time and expense to write a letter (keep a copy), and send it to them using certified mail and a returned signed receipt that they received it. Plainly state in your letter that you feel that you are being harassed and, that you no longer what them to contact you either by phone or mail. I won't get into the law but, by law they must stop contacting you once you have put it in writing. Give it a few weeks to see if the harassment stops. If not, do the following:
Call the phone company and give them the name of the company. You tell the phone company that the company you are reporting is using their phone to harass you and that you want to file a complaint. Using a phone to harass, even by a company, is against state and federal law. Next, you call your state's Attorney General Office and report the company. Inform the AG that you have sent the company a certified letter asking the company to cease contact and, they have not done so. The AG will inform you that they are in violation of law, the laws they are in violation of, and that you have a right to take legal action against the company. I said these laws have teeth. If you take legal action, and can prove your claim of harassment, the cash settlement will certainly be enough to buy yourself a very nice new car.

Robyn.. speaking as an ex-employee, if your references were contacted and were informed of the delinquency of payment.. that is a breach on confidentiality.. I am not sure what the laws are pertaining to information given without permission in Arizona, but here in Michigan.. it's enough to shut em down!!.. Check it out! In response to Chris' response, yes, there is definitely a market for these type of businesses, and yes, I knew going in that the interest rates would be high...but when they sell you a lemon and then could care less...well, that's another story entirely. I didn't expect to get a perfect car...but I did expect to not be ripped off, and unfortunately in my case, and by the things I've read about this company on here, many others were ripped off royally. Then to be subjected to a barrage of verbal abusive from one obnoxious little man...that was too much. Chris, congratulations that you got a good car...you're very lucky.

I went into getting a used car from JD Byrider. I didn't have bad credit..or good credit..I barely had a credit report at all..
like others have said..I two got to pick from a selected number of cars...black or white..this or that...Im paying $11,000+(including finacnce fees..otherwise..$8000) for a $3000 car..
crazy mark up prices OUCH...BUT!!
The car was in EXCELLENT condition for being 8 years old...had 57,303 miles..no dings, bumps, tears in seats...a little rust underneath..but other than that great condition...there is still no resale value and never will be...BUT CNAC would accept me when noone else would..I keep my car clean, tuned, and maintained in every way and I have not yet had a problem with my car (knock on wood) and owned it for just under a year..with all things in life its either hit or miss...you can't expect things to go right all the time (especially when buying someone elses car..
They got rid of it for a reason!) ..I for one am glad there is a place like JD Byrider..without them I wouldn't have gotten a start at all. I think its a crazy mark up price but it feels good to get a start in life...
you can't expect to get much help from the guy down the street selling his Pick up for $800 and expect nothing to go wrong..I apprieciate everything they have done for me...on the downside..the guy who told me about them was never paid the $200..=(
