I have had problems throught this entire purchase but my problems got worse as my car approached the last 1 1/2 year of payments. I bought a 95 Toyata Camry paying to much at $13,000 w/ 2,800 down with payments every two weeks. I only have about 5,000 left to pay. I was 15 days late (on a 2 week cycle) due to work related illness and called to request a 2 day extension and I would make 2 payments bringing the car up to date. I was denied by Gina who was extremely rude and abusive on the phone she told me to bring the car into the office or the full payment by close of business that day. I asked to speak with the manager Robert who gave me until the next day to make payment. I made the payment the next day as agreed but the car was repo'd anyway (ordered by Gina).

I called to speak to Robert and left him a message to call me asap. He never returned the call. I called again and got Gina who advised me that I was not allowed to talk to Robert anymore and that I could only speak to her. I asked her for the corporate office or district managers phone number, she refused to give it to me saying they have no district manager or corporate office. She would only tell me the car was financed through Suncoast Bank.

My last call to Gina was to ask her the total dollar figure to get my car back , she demanded 3 payments in advance, $50.00 towing fee, $200.00 processing fee that could only be paid in person. I told her I dont have a car can I pay it over the phone and pick the car up when I have a ride, she refused and said if I didnt pay in person she would not release the car.

I am afraid to go into the office due to the constant verbal bashings and the staff's demeaning attitude, but they leave me no choice I refuse to surrender my car when I am in the last year of payments.

Shannon, definitely contact the BBB in Tampa and the FL Atty. General. JD Byrider has problems in several states, Ohio, Kentucky, and Iowa, just to name a few. They are being sued by Atty. Generals for consumer fraud, consumer complaints, unfair business practices, collection practices, etc. Just check out press releases on the Atty. General web sites.

Good Luck

hard to believe that a big company like Jd Byrider does not have a district manager or corporate office

Good Luck Shannon- I think that it was totally unexceptable and unprofessional of the employee Gina to be so rude to you as a customer. It was not her place to not let you talk to Robert. He is the manager and had full charge of the situation. When you first started talking with him, your payments became his business and not hers.

It is also very hard to believe that a big company like Jd Byrider does not have a district manager or corporate office. If Gina is giving false information, that could lead to even more controversy. That is just immoral.

Good luck!!

Repossession

Thu, September 30, 2004

Shannon - We were disappointed to learn of your recent experience with the Tampa J.D. Byrider location concerning the repossession of your 95 Camry. It sounds like it is primarily a staff complaint in terms of how you felt you were treated.

In the event that a customer can no longer make their agreed-upon payments, J.D. Byrider has the right to repossess the vehicle. The repossession of vehicles is not a part of company policy, but in certain circumstances where the customer is no longer able to make payments, repossession is our only option.

Remember, this is the last resort our goal from the very beginning is to help you achieve your goals and make your payments by putting you in a car that you can afford.

For the last ten years, J.D. Byrider has been the industry leader in helping people get a reliable used car. As North America's largest used car franchise corporation, we are committed to making your car buying experience as enjoyable as possible.

We will investigate the details of your complaint and contact the Tampa location management. In terms of future contact, we have a corporate office in Carmel IN and it can be contacted through our company website.

Thanks,

General Manager: "I don't know anything about this consumer from Tampa"

I am General Manager of JD Byrider in Orlando. I don't know who "kevin" is from Lutz, but he is not our employee and his information is 100% wrong.

I don't know anything about this consumer from Tampa, but they should call the GM at their dealership if they have questions. We do not sell vehicles here over $9,999 and all have a 18 mos 18,000 mile warranty.
Thanks.

Hello If I was you I would call the Florida Dept of Motor veicles report this. And see what they can do for you. They should be able to help also call the attorney general of Florida and report them.

JD Byrider should be forced to close all of there stores in Florida they are charging way to much for these cars !!

The most they pay for any car is $3000.00 -$4000.00 and that is there line 3 cars then they mark them up and charge 20-25 % for a grand total of around $13000.00- $ 15000.00 after three years. Now line one cars they pay about $1500.00 -$2000.00 line $2000.00 -$3000.00 Talk about rip off

If you have about $3000.00 - $4000.00 saved up I would advise anyone to buy there own car and save $10.000.00 that $10,000.00 will buy a whole lot of motors and transmissions over the next 3 years
