I called JD Closeouts to purchase food pallets for my store here in NY. I was told these pallets were overstock brand name items & all within date. The pallets were to be about 6ft-7ft tall. I was told they were so tall I'd need them loaded onto a loading dock.

I bought 5 pallets @ $695 each, with shipping charges of $850, total $4295 When I received the pallets they were no more that 3 feet tall, the height woudn't have bothered me so much if the food was what it was supposed to be.

It was nothing more than Dollar Store food!!!! Mostly Ramen noodles there was not one item on any of the 5 pallets that I was able to charge more than $1.00. Most of the stuff sells for 50 cents or less.

When I took inventory & added it all up it came to $1500 full retail value! I called them to complain and they were out to lunch, in a meeting, away from their desk. When I finally was able to get someone on the phone they told me to prove it. I have pics and written affidavits from the freightliner driver and the man from the warehouse I had to rent to have these pallets delivered.

I'm in a tough spot now, I tried to contact consumer affairs, and they told me to get a lawyer. I can't get a lawyer to recover this $2795.00 I'm after. JD Closeouts is a large company and I'm small time. If I took them to court, I'm sure they'd have a great lawyer, and "IF" I won, all the $ would go to a lawyer or just pay off the plane fair and travelling expenses just to go to court.

The owner Joe Veyhan said, "This is the chance you take in the closeout business".Well, I've been doing this for 2 years, I also have friends in the closeout store business. And NOBODY has ever heard that expression. I understand sometimes you lose a bit on a pallet here and there. But 5 pallets in one shot from one company????

By the way, they offered me $250 off my next order for my troubles. LOL

I think the best thing to do now is just to get the word out to others, and hopefully they won't make the same mistake I did trusting JD Closeouts, they are not an honest company.

JD Closeouts did not send Rachel 3 foot tall pallets and the pallets were not noodles. We spoke many times to Rachel over the phone regarding her pallets. She called several times at the beginning upset that she did not get certain items on her pallets, but after talking to her and explaining to her that we do not hand pick items for pallets but receive them as is from the supermarkets and distribution points that we work with. Her pallets had canned goods, candies, chips, fruits and many other items. If anyone would like to see a copy of Rachel's manifest of what he received, please email us and we will be more than happy to share it with you.

One thing that we did explain to Rachel is that you can take a jar of jelly that retails $3.99 in the supermarket and sell it for a dollar at the dollar store or for 25 cents at the flea market. By saying that the food sells for 50 cents or less, Rachel is giving you flea market prices, not wholesale or retail information. To be realistic, most of the items that she received were well over $1, with all due respect to Rachel. Please do not take this report as the truth behind buying with JD Closeouts. We sell to thousands of clients every year. If our merchandise was bad and we were dishonest, you would see many more reports about JD Closeouts, but you don't. Please call us with any concerns before making your final decision or feel free to come into one of our warehouses either in Florida or Connecticut and talk to us face to face.

Thanks for understanding,
Mike
