We owed the IRS back taxes, which was our fault and our responsibility. Our intention was only to request an installment agreement. We did not want to deal with the IRS directly so we called Jeffrey Fouts' office. This whole process started on or about March 3, 2008.

We paid our initial fee/retainer which was $1200.00 on April 7, 2008. We had to provide them with every possible document which was very timely on our part. More money was requested from their office and more was paid out of our pocket. The final amount we paid to Jeffrey Fouts was approximately $2700.00. This $2700 was paid between April 7th and May.

Finally, after all paperwork was provided to them, their review, package for Installment Agreement went to the IRS and $2700 later, they contacted the IRS. Jeffrey Fouts' office contacted us and told us that the IRS would accept nothing less of $2316.41 for a period of 24 months. I told Jeffrey Fouts' office that there was no way. We had actually told his office previously that we could go as high as $800.00 per month. Jeffrey Fouts' office stated basically there was nothing else they could do unless we paid them more money. My husband and I discussed the situation and decided to terminate their services.

We contacted the IRS directly ourselves and told them our situation along with working with Jeffrey Fouts' office. They were more than willing to work with us on what WE could pay monthly. Needless to say, we completed our installment agreement with the IRS on the very next day to terms that we could afford.

We are very dissatisfied with Jeffrey Fouts' office. We paid $2700 for NOTHING and ended up doing it ourselves with the IRS. I will say that at first you are very intimidated with the IRS, like we were. But we called anyway, and I will say they worked with us kindly. We never once asked to get out of what we owed all we wanted Jeffrey Fouts' office to do was to negotiate an installment agreement that would fit our needs.

Do not waste your money on companies like Jeffrey Fouts. If you have IRS issues, just call the IRS and talk with them. If you wish to deal with companies like Jeffrey Fouts...rest assured you WILL pay a couple of thousands of dollars and be very dissatisfied.

This particular client hired us to set up an installment agreement with the IRS for $800 per month. After gathering all the required data and information, and then fully analyzing the case, we sent a request to the IRS for a $800/month payment plan. The IRS countered and said they should pay $2,316.41 per month. This is not unusual, and can usually be dealt with easily since the IRS has all the needed financial information in front of them - we just have to get them to look at it.

We wanted to contact the IRS regarding our proposal, but the client didn’t send in the additional retainer payment we needed to continue work. The client decided to end our services instead, and it appears they decided to contact the IRS themselves. Once a few questions were answered, the IRS agreed to the requested $800/month.

We don’t understand why the clients are upset - we laid the groundwork that allowed the IRS to grant them the payment amount they wanted.

We have an A+ Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating. We have been in business 20 years, and represented thousands of clients in all 50 states and 29 foreign countries. We are proud that less than 0.4% of our clients have ever complained. We regret this person is unhappy, but we can’t make everyone happy, even though we try.

You can speak to us personally at 1-800-509-2770.

Sincerely,

Fouts Law Firm
