Jefferson Capital Systems, LLC/Crown Asset Management, LLC They claim I owe them $3,065.00 then offered a new mastercard but never heard of them. St. Cloud Minnesota
I received a collection letter from Jefferson Capital addressed to my friend in New York, I live in California. They claimed I owe them $3065.00, offered me a mastercard if I paid the amount mentioned in full. I never heard of them before, claimed I opened the visa in 1990, closed it in 2004. I would be happy to pay them if I enjoyed using the visa they mentioned but nope, I don't know them. They know all the vital information about me! They have access to everything!!!

NEVER TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THESE OFFERS AND NEVER ASSUME THAT WHEN A COLLECTION AGENCY CALLS IT IS LEGITIMATE! do the research first and DON'T PANIC
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO NEGOTIATE AT ALL.
Go to this website and read about this scam. The only intent they have is to steal money from you that you may not even owe
www.ftc.gov and learn about the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act - YOUR RIGHTS!
http://www.budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages/jefferson_capital.htm
Anytime a collection agency calls - QUESTION EVERYTHING - NEVER ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEBT AT ANY TIME!
Demand they validate the debt FIRST in writing Certified Mail - return receipt
in most cases they cannot provide any debt validation (proof it is actually your debt). If it is your debt - never tell them that - contact the original creditor and work out a payment with them.
A favorite tactic is to contact everyone they can find with the same name in a certain geographic area. THEY DO NOT CARE IF YOU ARE NOT THE CORRECT PERSON. They only care about getting a lot of money for nothing. THEY PAID PENNIES FOR THAT DEBT - its a gamble and they know it

I live just South of where they are located and this is what I dug up.
This is a bottom feeder debt buyer with alleged ties to the Hannah organization in Atlanta, GA
They purchase old debts for pennies, many out of statute, some that may have been discharged in bankruptcy, then mark them up at huge profits and attempt to collect at highly inflated prices.
Previously, they have offered consumers the opportunity to reaffirm old debts through various debt buyer credit cards such as Majestic Visa, Aspire and the scam mailer offering EMBRACE VISA CREDIT CARDS' The disclosure information contained with the mailings is clearly aimed at deceiving and misleading consumers into thinking this is a good deal, the truth is this is as BAD a deal as anyone could possibly get involved in.
I reviewed this with my legal advisor, based on that we urge anyone being contacted by:
JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEMS, INC.
ASPIRE VISA MAJESTIC VISA EMBRACE VISA
DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THEIR SCAM OFFER!
IT STINKS, IT'S EXTREMELY COSTLY, IT WILL OBLIGATE YOU TO AN AGREEMENT THAT YOU MAY NOT EVEN OWE.
THE FOLKS AT AND ASSOCIATED WITH JEFFERSON CAPITAL ARE KNOWN SCAM ARTISTS WHO PREY ON UNSOPHISTICATED CONSUMERS.
DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM OF THIS SCAM.

No company will ever force you to get a credit card in order to pay old debts. The idea that they would come after you for an old debt while at the same time offering you a new credit card is insane.
I also recieved a letter from Jefferson Capital threatening me with legal action unless I signed up for their credit card to pay off my old debt. Only thing is the debt was paid in full and closed five years ago.
Unforunately there are people who have fallen for this, which is why I have filed claims again Jefferson Capital with the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) and the Federal Trades Commission (www.ftc.gov). The FTC has already filed suit against them for "Deceptive Credit Card Marketing" but I hope that the more people who file claims the more chance this company will either be shut down or hit with so many fines they have to shut themselves down.
I suggest you check your credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com (for free) and if you find these fraudelent comments on your report file a dispute with the credit reporting agency (also free and very easy to do). The credit reporting agency will then investigate and remove those items from your credit report if they find it was fraud.

You can contact Jeffereson and dispute the claim. They will provide you with the debt information pertaining to you. They sent me a letter with a great offer. Although the statue of limitations did run out, I feel that I still owed the debt. If someone owed me money, I would want it no matter how long it had been. Jefferson offered me a $208 discount on a $600 debt along with an Emblem Mastercard. I had to make $23 monthly payments for 3 months. I made one payment for $169. It took 6 weeks but I received my card in the mail last week. It contain the appropriate available credit that was quoted to me. The first day I received it, I paid the minimum that was due on it. I used the card yesterday and have no problems with it. I intend on spending the credit wisely and paying as much as possible each month. I believe in the law of attraction; what goes around comes around. Do right by others, and others will do right by you.
