I was almost a victim to Jennifer's scam. But thanks to Google and the Ripoff Report, I was informed and did not complete the transaction. We have been looking for cars for a while on craigslist.com. And the best deal came up. We responded to a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse for $2900. She posted pictures of a nice car.

Jennifer responded back with her story of how she wanted to just get rid of the car because it belonged to her late husband who died 4 months ago in Iraq. I truely felt sorry for this woman at first. The car brought "bad memories" - you'd think they would be sad memories. She said she was going to give the money to a war victims foundation.

The car was in storage and she would have it shipped to me. She e-mailed me invoices and craigslist transaction paperwork. This info told me that the car was on the other side of the country. Many people told me it sounded "fishy".

I just thought I would "google" her name and sure enough, the same story just a different car. A BIG "Thank you" to the other two victims that reported this. You have stopped me from losing money and hopefully other people will benefit from this.

What is that? I've never heard of it. I'm guessing there is no such thing.

These kind of scams are common. They will likely ask that money be sent via Western Union or Moneygram. A variation of this scam is when you are selling something and you receive a fake email that looks like it is from Paypal or whatever financial service you use and tries to get you to send the item to them without actually having been paid.
