My brother was adopted in 1963/1964. I searched and searched and finally found him on November 7th, 2007. With the 1 year mark approaching I wanted to do something special for him. I decided to petition the court for his adoption file which was sealed in 1964.
However; instead of doing it myself, I found a company online that claimed to act as mediators on my behalf to make petitioning the court easier. Not having inside knowledge of the court proceedings and being intimidated by all the paperwork, plus having moderate finances to work with, I enlisted Jennifer Robinson and her "company" a givenright.com. I paid a fee of $265.00 plus handling with my mastercard via Western Union to Jennifer Robinson, Des Moines, Washington.
I talked with Jennifer herself and gave her personal information on my family that she said was "required" by the courthouse where the adoption took place in Pontiac, Michigan. She then told me since I had paid the extra money for rapid request that she would have the information in about 7 to 10 business days.
After 5 business days, I called to check on the status of the search. I talked with Jennifer twice, on two separate phone calls. She responded with "I don't know what's taken so long" and "it usually doesn't take this long" were followed by her saying that she would call and see what the hold up was. After 3 days and no return phone call, I phoned again and got an answering machine 2 days in a row. I left messages that went unanswered. When I called back the following monday, the number was disconnected. I went online and her website a givenright.com was gone.
I then googled a givenright and there were entries of online scams, related to this website.Consumer reports of scams, list of alias names used by Jennifer Robinson, a.k.a. Jennifer Beck, a.k.a. Jennifer Wall and things that were not previously listed. Having realized I too had been scammed, I contacted the local police and my credit card company.
What bothers me most is not so much the money she is ripping people off - it's the playing of "God" she does with people and their lives. Also the information she "requires" could be used in identity theft. Other people have tried in vain to bring her down. She just lays low for awhile and then reappears online to do it all over again. She must be stopped for good.
