I received an email from one Alex Maine regarding a guitar amp that I was selling on craigslist. He said he was away on assignment and that he could only pay in a money order. He also said that he would pay an extra $20 for the inconvenience of the money order. I told him it was fine and that the $600 we agreed upon would be sufficient. He then sent me an email saying that his assistant accidentally sent me the wrong payment. He told me that when I receive payment, take out the $600 that was mine and moneygram the remaining money to the 'moving company' that would be responsible for getting the amp. This all seemed fishy to me. I decided to wait for the 'payment'. Today i received from an Alex R. two money orders for $950 each issued from CIBC(Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce). Remitter: Jerry D. Holbrook. I decided to google this and found this website with information on this scam. I am really glad that I found the site even though i would not have sent a penny to anyone until the 'money orders' cleared. I sent him a very nasty email back and told him I was going to report him. If you are trying to sell something on cragslist and you get a reply with anything like what I had gotten, IT'S A SCAM!
