Recently, my fiance purchased an engagement ring from jewelry central, and he spend quite a bit of money.  Once we received the ring, the stones in the halo setting began to fall out (after less than a week.)  We took it to have it fixed (at the instructions of jewelry central,) and were told by the jeweler (and shown by her, through a loupe, that the setting was defective.  (Specifically, there were only 1-2 prongs to hold in the diamonds, instread oof four.  After anotherr diamond fell out, we had another local jeweler (an expert, not selling us any service,) evaluate the ring, to see if it could be fixed.  He also showed us the defective setting, pointing out that it was cheaply made, and the diamonds would continue to fall out.

Since our guarentee period was not up, we wrote for a return code, for return and refund.  We had to ask for the return code four times, before we received it.  Also, it was put into dispute with the credit card company.  Then a representative from jewelry central wrote to us (a number of times.)  This person alleged that:1. the local jewelers were lying, simply trying to sell us something.  That the setting was good.  We patiently wrote that they were not selling us anything, and that we were returning the ring for refund, because we could see the defects oursellf, through the loupe.  Next, the representative alleged that we were stealing  or substituting the diamonds, including the large one.  (This made no sense, as we were returning the ring).  The allegation of our purported illegal behavior was made several times.  This was VERY upsetting to us.  Also, with these accusations, threats were made that we would be charged twice for the ring, especially if we didn't take it out of dispute with the credit card company.

Finally, after sending everything back, fighting anf being accused online of the crime of stealing or fraud, we received our refund-showing up about four or five weeks later on our statement.

The upside is that my fiance's and my horrible experience with jewelry central led us to look with those with an excellent reputation (Ruby Lane, Jamie Kate's Jewelry, etc.)  He then purchased me a gorgeous diamond/platinum (sapphire accents) Art Deco ring, center diamond, 1 ct.; surrounding gemstones 1 ct.  We were treated as valued customers by ebay, and through ebay Jamie Kates Jewelry.

     Beware of Jewelryy Central..
