We met with JK Harris rep. who had all the answers we wanted to hear. Great company, could deal directly with IRS--we wouldn't have to. They would get our penalties reduced or eliminated, would set up payment plan for balance owed, we had nothing to worry about.

At that same meeting with a Mr. Lance Allen, we turned over $7000.00 for starters. Neat little sum. Never heard from this man again. However we were shunted back and forth between this one and that one till our heads spun.

Not one person in that organization could tell us exactly how much we actually owed the IRS, as we had been making monthly payments and could not see where they were being applied.

This lingered from the middle of May 2004 until mid August. We thought three months was time enough for them to produce something for us. The only thing it produced was an irate IRS agent who we are still dealing with.

In mid August, we requested a refund, due to the fact they had done nothing and it appeared they really did not care to do anything. A Mr. John Shoop had early on told us that if we were not satisfied, there was a good possibility we could get a refund.

Since August, we have been trying to contact a "person" at JK Harris. It appears the only thing working there is someones voice-mail. NO returns on our phone calls. What are we to do?

I too am from New York and am taking JK Harris to court in Albany where they have their satellite office. The maximum amount in Albany Small Claims is $5000 and not $3000. I verified this on Friday 2/18/2005.

Recovering Your Funds from JK Harris

#6Consumer Suggestion

Sat, December 04, 2004

NOrmally I would suggest that you take JK to small claims court. They do not make an appearance, and you will win. Unfortuanately in NY the limit in small claims is $3,000, this is less than half your funds. I suggest that you get a good attorney on a contingency fee bases. He will probable charge 30%, but it would be more that you will recover in small claims. Small claims has worked with people I've suggested this to in MA, MI, CA, VA.

Good luck
