This company, Dave Zohner, Safety Director in particular, are the most discriminating, two-faced, backstabbing bunch of incompetents I have ever had the displeasure of being associated with. I spent almost two years with them and the whole time there was consistently in the top 3 drivers in my fleet as far as miles driven, mpg and less idle time. I literally ran my but off for them.

Yet, I get a speeding ticket in Oregon, for a speed the truck wont do as they are governed at 65mph, and I get terminated. He did not care that the ticket was a joke, just that I had admitted to exceeding the speed limit and, as he screamed to me, "We dont do unsafe things at Jim Palmer Trucking." Yet, they have the D.O.T. breathing down their necks for pushing drivers with H.O.S. issues and have had 3 drivers alone in 2004 rear end people causing fatalities which has their insurance company all over them. Anyway, they strung me along for a week, trying to get me to quit while the safety director was on vacation, before he finally had the courage to fire me.

I got no vacation pay that I was due, no bonus check which would have been substantial, could not get them to give me a copy of my personnel file, 401K rollover paperwork and it took them 10 days to get me my final paycheck. Yet, unless I spend 1000.00 or more to get a lawyer to go after them for wrongful termination, no one in this industry seems to know, or care, about filing a federal grievance against these people. I have almost 10 years experience and a clean driving record and have to get treated like a criminal by people that have never driven a truck before and have absolutely no clue.

I have been with Jim Palmer Trucking for quite some time. As for Dave yelling at this man, it is not a probable incident unless he REALLY pushed Dave over the edge. I know of many drivers who have received tickets and none of them were fired. Chewed out...most likely as they are safety minded here.

Never have I had Dave "scream" at me, and I have pushed the limit a few times myself. Termination from a trucking company would not get you any vacation pay when fired. Let alone a "bonus" check.

It always takes about 7-10 days to get your final check, you are paid on pay day! This is trucking, not a 6 figure corporate job.

As for, "Anyway, they strung me along for a week, trying to get me to quit while the safety director was on vacation, before he finally had the courage to fire me." If he was not there to fire you, courage has nothing to do with it. If Dave wanted you gone, he would have done it while on vacation. You probably were being given the benefit of the doubt until they could verify things before they fired you.

In ending, Jim Palmer Trucking has been a good company to work for. They are safety minded and look out for the driver. Sometimes Dave comes across rough, but look at who he has to deal with day in and day out.
