Jim Walter Homes - Beware & Be Warned Tampa Florida
If you are thinking of buying one of these houses, please be aware.
I have had nothing but trouble from day one. Every day while this house was being constructed, we ended up being like the project manager, as he would state and document being onsite, when he had never even been out to site, and we had to work out and deal with the problems, deficencies, mistakes/errors ourself. They finally fired him after several years I was told.
The house has been nothing but problems.....Everything from getting them to begin construction to trying to get them to honor their warranty. Good Luck.
I have tried for 5+ years with no success in getting them to come out and finish installing missing components from the actual plans to warranty repairs.
It is amazing that they have such poor managing skills with customers.
Good for their bottom line but Bad for the poor unaware customer.
They even finally changed their webpage, removing the Jim Walter Code of ethics, as they were not meeting many of them, which I brought to their attention during one of my many calls trying to get help and service from Tampa Corp Office and of course received a nasty letter from the president of the company, based only on Jim Walter employee input, never having spoken with myself. Much appreciated. Sorta like getting kicked after having fallen down.
At just shy of 5 years...the A/C, several Windows, all Exterior Trim, Siding, and Foundation have all failed or have serious problems. Out of or not covered by warranty of course.
Their current feel good information from their website - "When you choose Jim Walter Homes as your new home builder, you have chosen that piece of mind is an important part of your post-construction life in your home. We are committed to your satisfaction and your confidence in our products, our home construction abilities, and our company. We provide a home warranty with every home we build, and will work with you to resolve any concerns that you may have."
This is a false satement. If this was true...Why am I still stuck with issues and problems after 5+ years.
Unless you are looking for a ongoing work project, expenditures, and a huge headache.
Be warned. Stay Away.
