Initial Contract was signed 9/03. We had all site work done, paid impact fees, had water brought in and construction finally started in 1/04. Work done on the house was sporadic.

The house was left standing for months after it was framed in, exposed to the weather with no roof or siding.

Supplies were left out in the weather and had to be replaced at least 2 times. Inspectors halted work several times due to poor construction.

The building permit expired after six months and was never resubmitted even though some work continued.

Hurricane Charlie went through and blew off the porch and what roof had been done. Another agreement was signed to remove what was left of the house and start over at the Company's expense. As of this date, there has been no work done on the house and it sits as a derilect ruin. All of the debris is laying around the site.

After many phone calls and letters to Jim Walters, we have no confirmation that the work will begin in the near future. Our phone calls are never returned.

We have had to deal with 3 different construction managers and none of them have ever known what was going on. After being reassured they would help, they disappear.

Jim Walters Homes should not be allowed to stay in business.

Problem with JWH

#2Consumer Comment

Mon, February 07, 2005

First, I was wondering if you have any luck since your post? I too am having a JWH built. We closed on Nov. 10th. As of today all that has been done is the "footers". I have yet to meet the local contstuction manager. I have meet the "big" construction manager out of Texas though. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it will be done before May.
