Signed contract January 2004; foundation started six months later and framing started one year later. Improper materials delivered, which caused further delays.

Cheap lumber left laying out in rain without proper protection. When floor joists and subflooring were built, area was flooded numerous times (have 31 photos of damage), causing a severe contamination of mold and mildew as well as warping of lumber and rotting of outer walls. Situation was so bad that JWH--after our repeated letters to its president--had the house torn down.

We are now 17 months since signing the contract and all we have is a foundation (which may be defective)and numerous empty promises. A complaint to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) has gotten us nowhere.

This company has manipulated, antagonized, and cheated us to the extent that it has committed fraud against us. They have breached the original contract.

We have demanded that JWH utilize pressure-treated wood to make a second attempt at constructing the home, but they have refused.

We recommend that anyone considering having Jim Walter Homes build their home DON'T DO IT!!! In the long run, it is cheaper to have a real home builder build your project with quality materials and workmanship.
