Thursday February 28, 2008 a JK Group employee came to my door selling coupon books. This is the second time that I have been solicited for the same cause in the past year. The coupon books sell for $30. The employees misrepresent themselves as volunteers supporting the wheelchair basketball association, when in reality they are trained salespeople employed by JK Group in downtown Milwaukee. The salespeople are vague when answering questions such as "how much of the $30 actually goes to the wheelchair basketball association". If you refuse to buy a coupon book, they use high pressure sales tactics to guilt you into buying one. I have bought 2 of these books now out of guilt alone. I don't know for sure that what they are doing is illegal, but it certainly seems unethical and just plain annoying. I have no idea how much of my $30 is actually going to the charity, but I'm guessing it is very little or none at all.
