Was in lower buckeye jail recently serving a 1 day sentence for dui. I made the mistake and was willing to pay for it. The problem was the way they treated another inmate.
First this gentleman was arrested for DUI because he was driving with his chemotherapy medication in his system. Pretty absurd right there but it gets worse.
This person was sentenced to 3 days in Durango jail where he was put in solitary confinement because he dared to tell officers that he need his medication more than they were giving it to him.
When I met this gentleman we were in the release process which he had been in for ten hours before I got there. While we waited he asked several different guards to ask someone for his medication. He is in remission for colon cancer and has Krons disease. Obviously very serious conditions.
Each guard that came by said they would to hang on and went back to what tehy were doing which was nothing. At least 8 hours went by before someone finally got the floor manager to come. Each person that came before that was more militant than the next since this gentleman was starting to get upset although he never acted out.
When the floor manager came in she said it was on the log that he got medication at 9am and that was it and it was too bad. He explained that he needed 3 doses a day and was now 2 doses behind. She got annoyed with him and said someone was supposed to tell you earlier when you got your medicine and that she cant change the log. She then slammed the door shut and went on her way. This was at about 7AM. Finally at about 8:30Am they came in with his medication.
I did my crime and deserved my punishment but for this to happen to a human being with cancer and Krons disease is unacceptable. Hopefully people will realize the crimes against every day human beings that occur under Joe Arpaio are too much and get him out. It cant happen too soon.

When I was down visiting a inmate at the Florence/Browning unit, a guy was on the floor in his cell calling for help. He called until he couldn't anymore.Other inmates begged guards to look in on him, they ignored it. The guy died shortly after. There is no regard for anyone in their system.
