Joe Ginsberg of Joe Ginsberg Inc. is manipulative and exploits people. I worked at this company for 3 weeks and when it was time for a paycheck, he paid me cash, he gave me $100 for 3 weeks of my time. I am currently under the process of reporting this to the Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service.

After realizing that he had given me $100, I called the office and his cellphone which he did not answer. So when I got home I e-mailed him and stated that the amount he payed me was not the appropriate amount and it was not what we had discussed. I gave him a time sheet, in which I placed my days and hours worked and the amount he owed me. I also gave him a total and deducted the $100 he gave me.

Joe Ginsberg's reply was, that we agreed that I would receive a meal and transportation stipend (which I never received) for a two-week trial and at the end of the trial we would discuss a salary that would be "good for the both of us", and that my time would be payed for. He continually post-poned the salary discussion, until one day we discussed it.

The salary that we discussed per week was $400. He offered to give me a 1099 tax form, but as far as I'm concerned those tax documents are for freelancers not employees, not administrative assistants.

He seems to do this to many other people. Always trying to get things for free or at discounts. He borrowed rug samples, that were sent to him for free on the account that he would return them on his own FedEx account. Recently, he exploited a non-US citizen on the pretenses that he would sponsor them for their citizenship. The undocumented worker was forced to cancel their appointment to the American Consulate, because Joe Ginsberg decided to take back his offer 3 days before they were to leave the country to the American Consulate.

His office paper work is sloppy and is very difficult to find important office documents and he made fake invoices for his recent tax audit. He does not pay any of his workers on time and the resume file is full of ex-employee resumes who have not returned to work.
I really wish I didn't have to deal with working with an untrustworthy person, I am tired of discussing this matter with him and thinking about it. It's irritating and I'm getting sick of it. Hopefully this will reach people and help them make an informed decision before working at Joe Ginsberg Inc.

I met Joe in 2006 for a summer job when I was studying Interior Design in New York. I was going on 21 and eager to assist a working Artist/Designer. Joe is incredibly talented and has carved a beautiful niche for himself at the intersection of design solutions and fine art. His loft on 38th street was and is a pleasant and exciting place to work, where young people can gain practical experience in the trade while being allowed to run with their own ideas/projects for the company to grow and flourish.

It is no accident that I have worked for Joe at numerous periods/stages in my career for a total of 1.5 years full time - starting as a Design Assistant doing errands, which grew to directing fabrication and doing some experimental upholstery work - my latest tenure with him involved his new home furnishings line; participating in trade shows and handling sales/marketing and art direction of promotional materials as wells as product design/production. He is wonderful mentor; respectful and above all an absolute blast to for/with.

I was saddened to see such a gross misrepresentation of Joe's character, both personal and professional on this website. I have never had any problems getting paid, always on time and in full, weekly.

An Honest, Well Established Business with Excellent Referrences

#4REBUTTAL Owner of company

Mon, April 19, 2010

The allegations in this posting are false, and they are maliciously intended to hurt my business. The false nature of the allegations is best evidenced by the fact that the accuser posted them anonymously. I have been in business for 25 years. I invite readers to look around the internet to try to find another negative word about my business. There are none.

The person who made this posting is a disgruntled young man (approximately 21) with a checkered employment history. He came to me as an intern. He misrepresents our dealings and his knowledge of my business (from 3 weeks of part-time work), and his report to the Department of Labor was summarily dismissed. There was no report to the IRS.

I have a long history of dealing in a fair and honest manner with suppliers, customers, and employees. If I didnt, I wouldnt be in business. I invite readers to view my website joeginsberg.com to see the quality of our work and the list of prestigious clients.

The internet is a powerful tool and it can be used to help or hurt people. The reputation of a business can be altered by a single internet posting, regardless of the truth; and, it is often of little use (as in this case) to sue the person for defamation when that person has no money to lose.

Ripoffreport.com, as a matter of policy, does not verify posted statements; they will not remove anything no matter how much proof you supply them with to show a statement is false (such as the dismissed Labor Department complaint in this case), and no matter how transparently false and reckless the statement may be.

This site will post anything and everything, and they will not even remove a statement at the request of a person who admits a false statement and seeks to make amends. Thus, the information on this website is unreliable. Indeed, there are postings here that are pure fantasy. See for example "Shylock the Moneylender".

I suggest that anyone who considers relying on a statement posted on this site first look at a piece written by attorney Sarah Bird, entitled: Anatony of a Ripoffreport Lawsuit on www.seomoz.org

Attorney Bird writes: It is no secret that RipOff Report has been widely and universally accused of promulgating defamatory content and then extorting money from the victims of the very libel it publishes.

In closing, I would be pleased to provide references for anyone seeking to do business with my company.

The report filed above does not resemble the Joe Ginsberg I have done business with over the past many, many years.   I have hired him on several occasions and his work has been excellent.  He always exceeds expectations.

In the course of my business with him I have dealt with employees of Joe Ginsberg Inc. who enjoy working for Joe and have only the nicest things to say about him.

Please do not let the rant of one ex-employee color your judgment of this very talented and honest man.  This website does not check facts and really, when allegations like this (above) are made facts should be checked, not taken at some anonymous person's word.  Call Joe, ask him for references: customers like me, trade referrences, etc.  You'll see what kind of guy he is for yourself.
