In January 2020 I contracted with Joey Borrelli for 36 personal training sessions at a cost of $2,340 of which I prepaid to him. Our schedule was preset for M, W, F at 1 PM for the entire duration of the sessions. I met Joey Borrelli at a local gym in Fort Lauderdale, Joey Borrelli claimed to be a fitness instructor at various South Florida fitness gyms, he offered to help me reach my fitness goals at my local gym that I was a member of. He then advised he was not able to provide my personal training sessions at my current gym due to a do-not-compete period he was just entering.
He then offered to train me at his local apartment complex gym, the first several pre arranged sessions he was a no-show, he did have a lot of excuses though. After numerous no shows he claimed to have been embarrased by his actions and we agreed to move forward, only for it to continue to happen. He claimed he "lost" his fob to get into the gym at his apartment complex, but in reality I later learned that he was in eviction proceedings and his fob was disabled. He then left his Fort Lauderdale location and moved onto Delray Beach, FL and Hialeah, FL where he has been advertising and promoting his personal training services on his Facebook and Instagram feeds.
He refuses to honor or repay me for the services I paid for. I will be seeing Joey Borrelli in Small Claims Court. I hope anyone reading this is not finding it because they were scammed as well. I hope this serves as a warning to anyone approached by Joey Borrelli offering personal training sessions, while he may be an excellent trainer if he shows up, I would you suggest you pay as you go, session by session. Be prepared for the excuses for not showing up, they are epic!
