Aspiring models and actresses beware, if a modelling agency insists you take high-priced "classes" before they will represent you, DO NOT FALL FOR IT! In my eagerness to enter the entertainment industry, I went to John Casablancas of Orlando to ask them to represent me. Little did I know that they were in the business of signing people up for classes that are priced up to $1000 for 13 classes. They don't guarantee work and they convice you that you NEED these classes before you can model or act. NOT TRUE! I recently won a modeling contest with a reputable organization that required no money and I gained FREE representation. They told me that these "schools" are unnecessary and a rip-off.

Prior to taking the classes I was warned against them and even found horror stories on the internet, but was convinced it was my only way into entertainment. In my first day of class (and forgive how shallow this sounds) it was evident that they saw money and not beauty as it was apparent that some of the women in my class were not destined to model. People in the class even agreed that the classes were not worth the money and anyone I have spoken to who has ever worked with John Casablancas has later regretted the decision to take their classes. Three classes in, they became much too expensive and I (at the time) regrettfully withdrew having spent nearly $400 already. The only reply they sent to my withdrawl letter was a bill asking for a percentage of my classes as I had signed up for- more money!! When I paid this fee (as it was in a contract and they sent me a second letter threatening my credit!!!) I also sent a disgruntled letter at their lack of professionalism and desire for only money, they sent me nothing but a receipt.

BEWARE: John Casablancas is only interested in money. The work they get their "graduates" is promotional and rarely pays more than a few hundred dollars. To get these jobs you have to compete with hundreds of people. Furthermore, they continually ask their "clients" to "update" their compcards by spending hundreds of dollars for photos. They are a money making business and it is best to enter legitimate modelling contests or to find an agent in your area that will represent you (try the SAG website for reputable agents). Please don't make the mistake of spending a ton of money like I did! I regret the decision terribly!

My daughter went to the one in Nashville Tennessee. We signed all these papers and they financed her classes which totalled $1400.00. She did one show and it was for credit only. The director was drinking beer in the back and screaming at my child and other children. These kids are only 7 years old... (there were teens there as well). But I had enough. I am fighting the finance dept. JOHN CASABLANCAS will rip you off.... dont waste your money.
