John Christner Trucking does whatever it can to make your paycheck smaller. They refuse to pay vehicle technicians overtime pay because of a legal loophole called the motor carrier exemption which states, "Excluded from receiving overtime are drivers, driver's helpers, loaders and mechanics employed by a motor carrier (cars, trucks, etc.), if the employee's duties affect the safety of operation of vehicles in transportation of passengers or property in interstate commerce."

This is the only trucking company that I know of that engages in this practice with technicians. The vehicle maintenance shop is small and outdated. There are a total of two trailer bays for a fleet with over 1,000 trailers. The truck pit can hold approximately 6 trucks at a time. The fleet has approximately 900 power units. The new shop management promised a new facility nearly two years ago and as of this writing, no progress has been made.
