I was searching my emails for another 'John', and found the emails I have from my divorce from Mr. Jesperson. For some reason, I decided to search the net for Mr. Jesperson, as seeing the emials reminded me of how upset I was with how Mr. Jesperson conducted business. I found Marybeth's complaint, and couldn't help but agree 100% with her comments... as he did the same to me. He did do some work for me, but missed a court filing date, and kept my entire retainer...

Mr. Jesperson was recommended to me, and I thought my divorce was going to be expensive. I ended up giving Mr. Jesperson a $3,000 retainer in our first meeting... I met with him 2-3 times, I believe, and found out from my ex that he 'didn't file papers in time for our divorce'.

As my divorce was as amicable as one could be (spanning less than 1 month of contact with Mr. Jesperson), I requested Mr. Jesperson, send me a bill, and possibly return what was left of the retainer, since I obviously had just gotten divorced, and money would be tight... From the emails I still have, I requested a bill on 4 seperate occasions, with only 2 of those emails responded to as 'I will review your bill, and have a report in my next billing cycle'.

My last 2 requests went unanswered, and Mr. Jesperson kept my entire $3,000 retainer in a case where he missed a filing date, which could have let my ex have whatever he asked for. My ex even told me his lawyer was willing to represent us both, since my lawyer obviously was neglecting my case.

As with Marybeth, Mr. Jesperson, this could have been handled more amicably, but you ignored my emails, and NEVER sent me a bill for any work you did for me. Had I recieved a 'marked' up bill eating up the entire $3,000 - (for 2-3 meetings, and 1 court appearance, spanning 1 month), I would have been upset, but at least I could just claim you were overcharging me, instead of just stealing from me.

Had Marybeth not updated her complaint with information on Mr. Jesperson being cited for 'professional misconduct', I may not have reported this. Thanks Marybeth.
