JOHN ROBERT POWERS APPLIED FOR A REFUND. AFTER WAITING FOR OVER 5 WEEKS, STILL NOT RECEIVED MONTREAL Quebec
My daughter had heard an advertisement on the Radio indicating that she could have a chance to land roles with such stars as Mylee Cyrus or Zak & Cody. In March of this year I took her to the acting academy, John Robert Powers for an audition. We were sent home after the audition with a brochure as well as a number of options and that a substantial amount of money would be required if she passed the audition. I was asked to call back the following day to get the results. I did call the following day and was told that she has passed the audition and that they would like to see her for a second audition and to work out payment details. At that point the recommended a 30 lesson course the consisted of 10 lessons each. My daughter was at this point extremely excited. The cost of these 30 lessons $2950.00 payable by credit card. 50% up front. 25% payable by CC May, and the remaining 25% in Sept. We signed a contract that stated that she was unable to take all of the courses that we would be entitled to a refund for any "unused classes". After 10 classes, we decided that she would no longer attend lessons. I applied for a refund June 12 by calling the Academy. They told me that someone would contact me. No one did. I called again on June 16. I was told that I needed to fax a letter to them explaining that my child would no longer attending classes. I did. After several attempts to reach someone at the Montreal office with no success. I asked if there was a specific person that I should be speaking to. The directed my to the Toronto Office stating that all refunds must come from there. I have contacet the Toronto office several times with in the last two week. They tell me that person that I need to speak to is either out of the office or in business meetings. Twice I have been told that it will be taken care of and so far it has not. It has been almost 6 weeks since I applied for the refund and still no luck.
