I am a 17 year old boy that was tricked into attending john robert powers in corona california. about 1 1/2 years ago i was listening to the radio and it started talking about becoming an actor or model i became interested because this is like something that i have always wanted to do.

so i asked my mom to take me down there and she said "ok" because its only like 15 minutes from where i live, when I went I went with my cousin and we both did an audition Tamela Hamilton was the one that auditioned me and after we were done she said that she would like me to join and like an idiot my mom and I said yes and we signed a paper. Tamela then told me that i would have a class every monday for 15 weeks and I said okay the total we were gonna have to pay would be 1000+ i forget the exact number but we said we couldn't do that so she said we would have to make payments we said ok and we had to pay $50 every week.

I met alot of nice people taking classes and i still feel sorry for all of them to, but i remember a girl named crystal and her mother and i remember her pointing out to me a picture of lucy from "I love lucy" the picture was on the wall and tamela told me that lucy went to a john robert powers before she became famous and I actually believed her until i did some reasearch and found out that this was not true.

actually nothing about this company is true so please if anyone comes across this take it seriously i don't want anybody to go through the scam that i went through Tamela Hamilton is nothing but a liar! she even called and told us she was gonna take us to court so if any lawyers are out there and will help me I'll be willing to go to court because then i could just sue her for false advertisment which is illegal and Tamila did a lot of that. plus i found out that she will take anybody just as long as they are willing to pay the high amounts that she sets.

so once again avoid john roberts powers they are all a scam

ARE YOU KIDDING

What is your problem. How do you get tricked into attending an audition you are 17 not a 3 year old. You took classes and paid less for acting coaching than most people pay for guitar or drum lessons. You paid 25.00 Per half hour which is a GREAT DEAL for professional coaching.

JRP started out as a Finishing School way back in the early 20's, Yes Lucille Ball did go to JRP's Finishing school. JRP has now evolved into an Acting and Modeling academy. I have tons of success stories from the JRP that I work with. Kids getting LA Agents, Movie deals, National and Local Print Ads,Magazine Covers, Billboards, Eposidics, I could go on for PAGES.

What did you go through that was so bad?
You auditioned
You were accepted
You went to class (at a reduced rate)

Did you ever audition for an agent?
Did you study your craft?
Did you take it seriously?

Where is the SCAM?

JRP'S ARE FRANCHISES AND ARE ALL DIFFERENT

Now tell us your real reason Richard ?

I recall Richard was enrolled in the month of December. He enrolled in our teen acting workshop. It is a ten week program. Two hours each week. (We also allow ALL our students to repeat the same exact workshops at anytime within the first year...absolutley free) The investment is $1,295. Every December we have a toy drive, with the donation of a $25 toy we take off $300. Richard and his mom commited to the investment of $995. They put down $200 and agreed to pay $50 each week until paid in full. Richard attended his first set of 10 weeks and loved the workshops . He was doing extremly well. When I asked him when he wanted to take his free next set of 10 weeks ....He stated immediately because he was having so much fun.

Richard, We are a school. You invested in workshops. You received double the training. You learned so much. You were invited to each agent audition and you still are welcome. Why are you stating we are a scam ? What is your real reason Richard ? You are being very unfair to someone who really beieved in you ! I still do !

Each JRP is individually owned and operated. Did you know that? It probably states in your paperwork that there is a limited period in which you may cancel and get a refund. Did you check this first? JRP is a great company with great people! Go on-line - www.johnrobertpowers.net and you will see all of the success stories, plus you may be able to find another JRP near you and possibly transfer.

I am sorry about your bad experience, but if you are serious you won't give up! Also, Lucy along with many other famous stars did work with Mr. John Robert Powers in their younger days. We have a Legacy book in our JRP office that has clips of interviews with Lucy and others validating their association with JRP. You should be careful not to defame an entire operation like JRP just because of one bad experience with one JRP office, of which there are over 100 worldwide! JRP is the biggest and best at what they do. You don't stay in business for over 80 years doing things the wong way.
