This man: Johnathan Rodriguez, aka JROD, yourgraniteman.com, JROD Designs, apparently living in either Whittier or Norwalk and a graduate of Garfield High Shool in Los Angeles
(((link redacted)))took a $657.50 deposit for a granite countertop on June 2, 2010. He and his crew were to deliver and install the countertop on the morning of June 5. He did not show up and when contacted by phone on June 5, he made numerous excuses and later said he was on the way be at the house within 30 minutes. Couple hours later, I was finally able to reach him on the cell phone and he said he was stuck in traffic. He continued to make up more excuses before finally agreeing to meet on Monday and return the deposit.
Surprise surprise...he was a no show again. When again reached by phone on Monday, he said he'd return the deposit on Tuesday and again he's a no show.
At first I though that he was just another incompetent contractor. Now he won't answer his phone and the website (www.yourgraniteman.com) has gone dark. Starting to smell like a thief and it's looking like time to see if a friend in LAPD can help out.
On his myspace page, JROD the thief, portrays himself as a family man, a music promoter, the manager of local Orange County band Slapbak, an interior designer and a churchgoing all around good guy.
Perhaps, this post will help expose the true character of JROD and save a hardworking homeowner or musician from being ripped off by this thief. If he redeems himself and returns the deposit, I will update this report.

It's been 4 months, in September, this guy returned $100 of what he owes and promised to refund the remaining amount, soon. I thought he was about to redeem himself.
Unfortunately, I also just noticed someone else who is posting about this guy on September 29th, on the Los Angeles Craigslist, with complaints about shoddy work and failure to complete the job.

JROD has recently returned $100 and swears he will return the rest soon.
But, he's having a hard time making any money because a couple of potential clients have told him they saw posts on the internet, that say he has ripped them off.
At first, I thought someone stumbled across ripoffreport, but I doubt that. A quick search revealed someone else who did biz with this guy, posting on the Los Angeles craigslist about terrible quality, yada yada yada.
