On January 8, 2009, I received a letter from the Johns Hopkins HIPAA office that Dr. Joel Fradin, a radiologist at the Johns Hopkins, had looked up my medical records without my permission, violating HIPAA privacy laws. He used his position at Johns Hopkins to call up other hospitals and procure medical records as a way to do a background check when I was dating his daughter. He has done this to other men who have dated his daughters. Dr. Joel Fradin was never a physician involved in my treatment.

After I stopped dating his daughter, Dr. Fradin and his family then used those records to smear me, sending e-mails to business associates that contained quite a bit of hyperbole and outright lies as far as my medical conditions.

The Johns Hopkins did not discipline Dr. Joel Fradin at all for violating HIPAA.

Your medical privacy is not safe at The Johns Hopkins. If you have a pre-existing condition and value your privacy, use another Baltimore-based hosptial such as Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
