Dennis trys to come off as a big time trainer and breeder, but I came to find out that he accomplished nothing. his biggest acomplishment was showing a dog at a regional event, but anyone with a dog can do that. He buys trained and titled dogs and tries to pass them off as his own work. He is afraid of some of the dogs in his kennel but he breeds them anyway. He sold me a dog with a poor temperment that was not bred in the correct manner.

I have known and worked with Dennis Johnson with a number of different Dobermans in the last two years for protection work.  Training would require that I be there as many as 4 days a week for sessions and during that time I had the pleasure of not only getting to know Dennis but also, his training methods, work ethic, some of his clients, and his own dogs as well.

In that entire time, I NEVER witnessed any undesirable temperaments or behaviors from any of his his dogs, adults or puppies.  Furthermore, he has some of the nicest bred, healthy, GSDs of sound mind and body I have ever seen.

To claim that he has, or ever had, any fear of his own dogs or anyone elses dogs, is pure BS!!

The person who filed this complaint is obviously totally lacking in moral fiber, personal character, self-esteem and integrity!!!  Why dont you grow a pair and handle this like an adult instead of hiding behind this web page which shouldnt be allowed to post such unsubstantiated crap in the first place giving losers like you a veil to hide behind to defame someone elses character and hard earned reputation with slanderous, vicious lies!!!!!

I myself have trained some of the most undesirable, poorly bred, ill tempered dogs of almost every breed imaginable over the last 30 years and I can truthfully attest to Denniss talents.  Get a life!!

I met Denis Johnson back in 2007 after a close friend of mine recommended I take a look at his website, as I was entertaining the possibility of getting a GSD at the time and was learning everything I could about real working bloodlines. My friend was from Fayetteville, NC and had heard of Dennis back when he was living near there, even though all of us were living around the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area at the time. When I first contacted Dennis I already had 2 females that were mixed herding dogs and retrievers. They were rescue litter mates and are great dogs but they had some crazy drives and I had no idea what to do with them once I got them home. The only thing I knew for sure was that I wasn't going to give them up for anything, but I needed to do something with them. I contacted Dennis mainly to take a look at getting a working bloodline GSD but also to see what I might could get my other 2 females to possibly do as well. To make a long story short Dennis began working with me and we identified one of my females that would work well in tracking and thus began my learning experience with working dogs and what it takes to properly train them. We tracked my little Gabbie nearly every Saturday for over a year before I finally decided to bite the bullet and get a real working bloodline GSD. Every one of those Saturdays Gabbie and I were out there tracking side by side with these intense schutzhund dogs and it was a sight to behold. I got to begin learning about all the different aspects of protection sports and Gabbie was always thrilled to go and track every Saturday morning no matter what the weather. She is a working girl at heart and even though she will be 10 years old this year I still see her doing things she learned through tracking with Dennis that year. She still loves to put her nose to the ground and follow scent trails around wherever she is. It's almost like she never realized she had the ability before we trained her and now she loves it. The game of scenting is its own reward now and I have only Dennis to thank for giving her that. I was just the guy walking around a hay field bending over a gazillion times to lay down pieces of hot dog and then holding the line and trying to figure out what the hell was going on while he and Gabbie meticulously worked my footprints in the light of the rising sun.

Well now I am living in south central Florida and I have a little, some would say mini, working bloodline GSD I got from Dennis a couple of months before I left North Carolina and she is absolutely priceless! She has solid super drives for prey and the bite which I have somehow managed to turn into super ultra play drive. She also has ultra bone and head structure, thanks to Tracy C. and Xandor for all of that. What's almost even more important though is that she is the sweetest and most happy little girl ever and I have Fonda to thank for that, and ultimately Dennis to thank for putting it all together. I couldn't imagine not having her around now.

I am lucky enough and privileged enough living where I do now to work with some of the best trainer decoys in the sport worldwide (several world team level competitors) and even the famous malinois trainer/decoy/breeder, and world champion several times over who lives in Plant City, FL (those of you in the sport will know who I am referring to) immediately wanted to know where I got her from after he saw her intensity and the way she nailed the bite at 7 months old. Enough said. So if you are looking for correct working bloodlines, with correct temperament, drives and structure you have no further to look than Dennis Johnson. You can pay much, much, much more money for good bloodlines but it would a rare occurrence to actually get a better bred GSD in the spirit and vision that Von Stephanitz originally intended. Also something else that is crucially important but often overlooked by many breeders that Dennis understands well and strives for is solid imprinting. It's vitally important and should never be underestimated nor overlooked.

For the people that know Dennis well, when we read something like what the original poster wrote we immediately recognize the fact that they have absolutely no idea what they are writing about and as a consequence we see them for who and what they are, a liar and a fabricator, and I must say a poor one at that.

I have known Dennis Johnson for over ten years. we have trained dogs togeather many of times over this time period. If someone ask me to recommend a dog trainer, it is always Dennis Johnson.
Dennis loves training and working with dogs of any breed.

The dogs at Johnson-Haus are very high quality dogs, you will not find a kennel anywhere in this country, with higher quality dogs. Dennis is very selective in the dogs the he purchase, train, and breed.

Dennis and I talk, text, or e-mail on a regular basic, iI know for a fact that he has not sold any dogs in the MD area.

I have done business with Dennis for several years now and have remained in constant contact with him while owning one of his dogs.  He has always been more than willing to help out with any problems or questions and has even traveled all the way to Michigan to help me evaluate a litter of GSD pups.  On several occasions he has met me halfway to deliver or take delivery of a dog and he will go out of his way to help out in any way possible.

When I am again in the market for a pup or young, trained dog I will make the trip to Maryland.  Dennis is always upfront with you about what you can expect out of the dog you want to purchase and I found that refreshing after dealing with other breeders and trainers.  I was told the stud dog I wanted was a bit harder to handle and he was but I was ready to deal with that and it worked out wonderfully.

Beware the slander because it just may make you miss out on a great purchasing or training experience!

I cannot believe that someone actually file a complaint against Dennis in a website instead of just going to him and try to settle things out. I spent many months searching for a reputable breededer as I am very particular with where I was going to purchase my next GSD. I felt that I "interviewed" Dennis quite a bit before deciding whether or not I would want to purchase a puppy from him. The entire time I dealt with him he was polite and sincere. He spoke with passion and what made me choose him over all the other breeders that I  had "interviewed" was the fact that when I asked a question regarding the puppies or the parents he would not just answer the question but go on to talk about them and their personalities. I didn't know what I was getting when I placed my deposit down for the puppy. I wished for a bi-color male and we talked about it but I mostly wanted to make sure that the puppy would be suitable for our lifestyles. Well, I ended up getting an all black female! And I must say that I could not be happier with her. She is so gorgeous, wonderful temperament (which everyone I pass compliments on), excellent with kids and very (scarry) intelligent. I have to say that I have to agree with one thing that this person wrote about Dennis (about being scared of some of his dogs). Yes, I would be scared too; they are so intelligent and well bread that I would be afraid that they would learn how to drive LOL!!!! Just as an example, my dog learned to go to the mail box with me at 4 months of age, get the mail and bring it to the house AND give it to my husband! This at 4 months of age!!! We are now involved in obedience training and soon will be going to tracking. She is amazing and I would only buy another GSD from him and him only! I must say that maybe this complainer (if indeed bought a dog from Dennis) lied about himself to get a GSD (which is NOT a dog for everyone). Perhaps this person should have bought a Chihuahua instead....

I know that all these allegations on the original post are not true because I
know Dennis for 4 years, we have trained together in many occasions.  He
is a very responsible and knowledgeable trainer and breeder. I know a lot of
people that have bought puppies from Dennis and are very satisfied and they
did not have issues with the puppies. Dennis very honest and humble, he always
goes the extra mile to help people.  If you knew Dennis or have dealt with him
you would realize that he is a very caring trainer and is very knowledgeable in
all respects with dog breeding. All the allegations from the original post are lies
and the person who wrote this post has issues.

I've trained with Dennis Johnson for several years.  He helped me train my German Shepherd in the sport of Schutzhund,  beginning with foundation training as a young puppy and continuing through his adult years. We achieved significant success, including successful participation in 4 national seiger shows in Europe and 1 in North America, in 2010.  The training I received was exactly as advertised.

During the several years associated with Johnsonhaus, I've had the opportunity to meet several of his clients.  I've only heard of one incident regarding an individual that had purchased a puppy.  If I recall correctly, this individual was unable to handle a puppy with the amount of energy and drive that is normal with a growing german shepherd.  I know that the individual was allowed to return the puppy and recieved a refund.  The dog was later placed in an appropriate home.  As far as I know, the client was happy with the way the situation was handled .

Regarding the incident reported on this site, I would suggest that the individual contact Mr. Johnson and try to work through any problems.  From my experience,  Mr. Johnson has always treated his clients in a fair manner.

if this person wasn't so incorrect on every level, this would almost be funny.  there isn't one allegation in their report that any of dennis' REAL clients wouldn't refute.  my dog and i worked with dennis for three years, earned 6 titles and would still be with him but he's moved more than my 85 miles each way could handle.  i saw him whelp puppies and i learned how to handle them - i saw him work difficult dogs and learned something from that and never once did i see fear in either dennis or the dog.  my dog and i have done demonstrations at dog fund raising events and many people came up to me and asked if i trained him (or could i train their children)....i would happily say that i was involved but the real training came from johnsonhaus gsd - dennis johnson.   please, ripoff reports, check the facts before you print something like this....

Let the truth be known....Dennis is the BEST!!

When words are suspect ,the truth can be seen in a man's works. Dennis Johnson has
ALOT of good works for those seeking the truth to see.

I am a soccer mom who agreed to foster a German Shepherd from one of my husband's soldiers
After a few months I realized he was here to stay in our home and I was in WAY over my head.
I researched and interviewed several trainers. I even went as far to observe several classes.
Although his kennel was a hour and a half from my home, I chose Dennis. It was the best
decision I have ever made for both my dog and me!

I was HORRIBLE at dog training and very mismatched with my dog. I actually wanted Dennis to take my dog on an in-kennel training basis, which would have made him alot more money. But Dennis knew from the beginning that it was ME who needed the training. As he said on our first meeting; "The dog will be obedient for me. The success will be getting him to do it for YOU!"

And he was right. Dennis's knowledge of dogs was surpassed only by his patience with me. He not not only gave me the tools to have an obedient dog; he gave me confidence in myself and my ability to both try and succeed at something that did not come naturally to me. Dennis also
taught me about the temperment and personality of my dog.  Because of Dennis, I am able to
enjoy and include my dog in any and all of our family activities.

I trained at Dennis's kennel for two years. NEVER did I see him "afraid" of any of his dogs.
I did however, wittness the best care, love and training a breeder/handler could give any dog.

The only complaint that my family may have is Dennis's training motto: "Earn praise and avoid
correction.".....You see I learned that was good advise for teenagers TOO!!

Dennis Johnson is the most responsible, patient and caring trainer I have ever met. You would
be making the right decision in bringing him into the life of you and your dog!

I'm shocked at this feedback and have a hard time believing it is accurate.  I've dealt with Dennis over the last two years and I have found him to be very honest, reputable and more than willing to support you after you purchase a pup from him.

I also don't believe Dennis attempts to come off as a big time breeder.  In my experience, he has been extremely humble.

I also would be shocked if Dennis ever sold a dog with a poor temperament.  In my experience, his dogs have great temperaments.  Lastly, if Dennis ever sold a dog that was defective, he would always replace the dog.

It sounds like the original poster is a competitor and Dennis is going to take his/her business.  If you can't compete, slander.

I am the owner of said business, the post is in itself an out right lie. I've been in Maryland for 7wks and have not sold any puppies since being here! I have no customers named Smith from Emmitsburg MD and have not trained any-ones dog from there either! Like I said, I've been here in MD for 7wks.

I found out about this post, because the mentally ILL person who posted it started emailing it around and it was forwarded to me from friends. The nut-job found the post within 7days of it being posted "how do you even find the post"? I searched the whole site and could not pull up the post without the original link.. So how did this Mentally Ill person find it or even know to look for it? Easy she is the O.P of the thread.

As you will soon find-out I have helped many people over the last 17yrs in the dog sport, puppy sales, importing and basic dog training. Yes my reputation is everything to me and yes I will pay an outside Attorney to get the info needed to findout who posted this Defamation of my business. It will not go unanswered!

The fact this website will let anyone come on here and say anything they want is criminal in-itself! I refuse to pay this website $2,000 to have it "looked at" by its own lawyers, what a scam! It is just as much to blame as the mentally ILL person who came on here and posted it!!

Mrs Smith? Is that how small your imagination is?

My husband and I purchased a White German Shepard when he was about 13 weeks old.  Being elderly and knowing the dog was going to be big we knew that we had to have him trained or he would become the alpha not us.
We found Dennis on the internet and had more than a few conversations with him about 'Puppy" training.  He explained to us what we could expect, etc.  My husband did most of the training as I watched.  We met every week for 8 weeks.  Dennis taught us to have the dog sit, heel, come and all the other puppy things he thought we needed.  He was always very professional and handled our dog with compassion but also with strictness.
As Kaiden grew older (bigger) we wanted more advanced training.  Dennis suggested "in-house" training.  Kaiden was there for 6 weeks.  The first two weeks we were asked not to visit which we didn't do.  After that we visited him occassionally and very very satisfied with the results that came out of the training.
As I mentioned we are elderly and couldn't have him jumping up on us, etc.  Dennis was aware of that limitation and trained Kaiden accordingly.  When he got older we noticed that he was distracted easily and talked to Dennis about that.  He came over to our home, sometimes with another person who would walk his dog up and down the street as a distraction to see how Kaiden would react.  He taught us how to correct the dog.  Kaiden is now 3 1/2 years old and a delight.  We couldn't be more pleased with Dennis and his training.  We were at his home and he showed us some of his puppies.  You could tell that he loved all the dogs and they in turn loved and respected him.
I am so glad that Dennis came into our life.
As a side note - even though Dennis has moved to Maryland if I ever have a need or question I can email him knowing that he would be more than willing to help us.
