In late December I went to Johnston's Toyota in order to purchase a vehicle. During negotiations, on the price I was told they would give me a store credit of $600. When looking over the bill and recalculating the numbers I was astonished to see they had charged me for the store credit when they had said they were giving it to me. I immediately called them and they admitted to what they had done and reimbursed me the $600 but did not give me the store credit that was promised.

When I called to confirm when my Truck would be ready I was asked if I would like to also order accessories. I was told I had to purchase them first since they had to order them. I asked if I did not like them would I get a refund. I was told if I did not like any of them I could return them and receive a full refund. I went down on January 9, 2009 to inspect the accessories and have what I wanted installed. I picked out a few things.

When I went to receive my refund I was told by Steve Johnston new cars manager, I had to take everything that there was no refund. I had previously been told by Richard Valentine finance manager, Dave Velez sales consultant and Gino Corona show room manager that I would receive a full refund for anything I did not want. I then refused everything and left the accessories at the dealership.

I have tried to resolve this matter with Nina Ward, the customer's relations liaison, Since January 9th. We were close to resolving this issue. There was only a matter of where an extra $180 came from. I was waiting for Ms. Ward to send me the papers when on Feb 12 I received a phone call informing me they had changed the terms of the near resolution. Instead of me paying $540 in restocking fee's and getting a refund on the rest, (as was tentatively agreed upon) they now tell me I had to take half the accessories receive a partial refund and pay restocking fee's.

I now feel Johnston's Toyota never meant to find a resolution I believe their actions were calculated to take as much money from me as they can resorting to out right lying to achieve their objective

When this occurred I filed a complaint with the NY state attorney generals office. They contacted Johnstons Toyota who then immediately refunded my money. :)

We had dealt with them twice before and had great experiences. We trusted them fools that we are. Anyway the accessories are not on the contract only the truck. We went through all the numbers and can't account for where $180 came from. By their latest response I can only surmise they can't account for it either.

READ IT! It's a Lawsuit that involves African Americans & Hispanics who were charged higher interest rates on their auto loans by Toyota.

The main plaintiffs in that case were Mr. & Mrs. Baltimore, and African American couple. Toyota settled out of court for over $10 MILLION, but they didn't admit any guilt. I wonder why they'd settle for over $10 MILLION if they believe that they didn't do anything wrong?

It's just like the $190 MILLION Lawsuit that a former executive assistant at Toyota's New York headquarters filed against Toyota. Toyota admitted no guilt, but they settled with her. No one knows how much she received because Toyota wanted to keep it QUIET! You can 'Google' this- SEXUAL HARASSMENT TOYOTA, and read it!

Now, Toyota is in talks with a Japanese Bank so they can BORROW $2 BILLION, according to an Article the other day. You can read the other Ripoff Reports here and that Article is mentioned. Simply 'Google' it, and read it!

Make sure to 'Google' this- ENGINE SLUDGE, and go to the consumeraffairs website about Toyota Engine Problems and read all of the complaints! Click on 'Airbags' when you are there and read those complaints too.

Have a nice day!

How many times is this scumbag dealer gonna d**k you over before you wise up? "I was ASTONISHED to see they had charged me for my in store credit of $600". "I immediately called them and they admitted to WHAT THEY HAD DONE and reimbursed me for my $600 but DID NOT give me the $600 in store credit that was promised". They only admitted to it AFTER they got caught. I mean didn't that kind of give you even the smallest CLUE on what kind of scumbag dealer you were already dealing with? Didn't kind of raise some kind of red flag? "I was told if I did not like any of them I could return them and get a full refund". And are you ASTONISHED, AGAIN, that they are lying to you and screwing you over AGAIN? Jusy remember the old saying about car dealers. IF their lips are moving, they're lying. I'd hate to look over your contract and REALLY see how they screwed you over.
