Complaint Review: Jol Salon (Jarratts Of London)

I purchased three L'Oreal Professionnel hair care products for a total of $71.69 (including tax) from Jol Salon on August 22, 2008. Jol Salon is authorized by L'Oreal to sell their products. I tried to return the unused items three weeks after purchase (Sept 11, 2008), with the receipt, unopened, in their original packaging, and was refused a refund.

The L'Oreal company website states the following:
"Thursday, July 10, 2008
Quality Guaranteed Only in Salons -
We have great news. Because of the confidence we have in our products, for the 1st time ever, we are offering a QUALITY GUARANTEE on L'Oral Professional Products Matrix, Redken, PureOlogy, L'Oral Professionnel, Artec, Krastase, Shu Uemura Art of Hair and Mizani. If you purchase our products at your local salon, spa or online from L'Oreal Professional Salon Products websites and you're not satisfied with their performance, return the product with a receipt within 4 weeks for a full refund."

The Jol Salon refused to honor the product guarantee as stated above. Jol Salon had no return policy posted any where visible to consumers as required by California Civil Code section 1723. "The policy must be displayed either at each entrance to the store, at each cash register and sales counter, on tags attached to each item, or on the company's order forms, if any. A return policy printed only on a receipt, for example, is not sufficient. If a store violates this law , the purchaser can return an item for a full refund within 30 days of purchase.."

I do not want the products. I did not use the products, not that it is required by the manufacture to be unused or unopen, only "if you're not satisfied with their performance."

I would like a full refund, not store credit or services rendered. I do not want to use the business again, I have lost faith in their business practices and policies after this incident.

It is always a great shame to hear a customer hasn't been given a service, which they're not 100% happy with. I would be very disappointed if I was not given a refund at a salon if I hadn't used the products. Unfortunately yourself and your Son did say the products had been used. This not a problem though as these used products can be returned to L'Oreal professional for a full refund, which is fantastic. We at Jarratts of London strive to make our clients feel at home and comfortable with in the great surroundings, which we offer at the salon and at Liberty Station Marketplace.

Jarratts of London does have a return policy which is clearly displayed in the salon and on our website www.jolsalon.com which offers 24/7 online booking and appointment confirmation via email. We also give every client whether new or returning a complimentary consultation were we discuss the best styles, cuts, aftercare services, service costs and the best professional products in the hair industry. All are staff are trained regularly to the highest standard and only have the clients interest at heart. I would like to apologize to you and only wish that you had taken the offer of a full refund up at the salon and that offer still stands because we do care for every one of our clients. Every situation in life can be resolved professionally in a caring way, that's why I would love to help you feel confident this matter can be closed. Please contact the salon so we can give you a full refund and a complimentary Haircut and Kerastase Ritual to make your hair look fantastic by the president of Jarratts of London.
