  • ON 5/15/12 I took my Kia Sportage 2002 into service for a check engine light and it was running rough.  They said I needed spark plugs, wires, ignition coil and harness for the coil, intake gasket, valve cover gasket, transfluid exchange and coolant exchange.  Cost of Parts $400+ and cost of labor over $1000.  I can get the plugs, wires, coil and harness for $126 at Pep Boys
and the gaskets and fluids have nothing to do with the vehicle running rough.  They wanted $577 +/-  for labor to replace the plugs, wires, coil and harness which is over 5 hours.  And it doesn't take 1.5 hours to change the transfluid or 1.1 hours to change the coolant.  Neither does it take 1.5 hours to change the valve cover gasket and 3/4 of an hour to change the intake
gasket.  Unless of course the tech doesn't know what he's doing??  Now while I was in there, the gm came in and wanted to know if the service manager had met his "quota" in dollars for the week in service jobs.  They have a quota???  This company is not interested in treating their customers fairly, they are only interested in their bottom line.  I just paid $1300 to have an ecm replaced two months ago and now this?  The techs don't know what their doing, and the company only cares about their bottom line in dollars.  What happened to the fairness in treating customers?  Don't use this dealership for your service repairs, they'll only screw you out of your hard working money.
