I found Joseph Hernandez via craigslist because I was searching for quotes for some quartz countertops. At first he seemed helpful and knowledgeable about countertop installation. He came by to give me a price and to field measure. He had a contract ready for me to sign with a company name of "Young Stone Kitchens." He required a deposit to buy the slab for the countertops and I wrote him a check.

I would check in weekly to find out a date of when the installation was going to occur people I had to make sure I was home. He never gave me a specific date, but just kept pushing the install one week at a time. Every week he had a different excuse for why he stood me up when he said he was going to come and install. One excuse was that he got hurt lifting this stone and was in the hospital all day. Second excuses were that he had too much work going on. Third excuses, that he was out of state because his son had died. Who makes up those excuses!

After 4 weeks of dealing with excuses he stopped answering my phone calls and texts. By this time, I realized the installation was never going to happen. He blocked me from calling him. I even called him from a different number and he answered, but as soon as he realized that it was me he hung up on me.

Therefore, he just cashed my check, never planned to do the work, and stole my deposit.

BEWARE OF THIS SCAMMER. His license is from the state of Texas. Please report it if it happens to you as well as I read that it was happened to other, but PLEASE file a police report so that they can see a repetitive pattern and go search for him.

I do have his finger print on file of when he cashed the check, but I need more people to report him as well so that the police can do something about it. He uses pre-paid phones or something as his phone number cannot be traced.
