I went to Dr. Joseph Smulsky for a cleaning. When I made the appointment I made it clear I only wanted a cleaning however, they kept insisting I needed x-rays too. After listening to tell go on about I needed to have the x-rays in order to have a cleaning I agreed, ONLY because they told me my insurance covered it. They ASSURED me I would not receive a bill.

A month later I got a bill for over $100.00, I called my insurance company to see why my cleaning wasn't covered? They said it was along with the first $2500.00 in x-rays but, the remaining balance was because I exceeded my maximum benefit for the year. In just one visit??? Yes, in one visit they DRAINED my insurance for the year.

When I called to ask about the balance, they told me it was for the x-rays. I said I was assured there would be no balance and that was the ONLY reason I agreed. The receptionist "Carrie" was completely rude and even called me a "b***h". I said that I wasn't paying because I made it clear I ONLY wanted the cleaning, she said fine then we will sue you. Over $100? How pathetic!

Six months later I found out I was pregnant and needed to go the dentist for a check up. I went to a NEW dentist who wanted a copy of my x-rays and I told him the story. Who contacted Dr. Joseph Smulsky's office who said they were "lost"! A few months after this, I received a notice indicating they were suing me. Of course, I planned on going to court over this. However, my court date was 2 days after I had a c-section and could not attend. The judgment was issued.

About two years later, they decided to actually follow through with the judgment and garnish my paycheck for $262.00. I was furious but, had no retaliation at this point. The money came out of my check late November. Today January 26, 2009 the money still has not been reported back to the court as judgment satisfied and "Carrie" continually promises to send or fax a letter of satisfaction claiming the balance is resolved but, gets too busy every day. There is NO one else in the office willing to help me out. They have no customer service ability there and I would not recommend this establishment if it were a FREE clinic. Which it should be because NO one should get paid to be that NASTY!
