I just received a credit report from Consumer.com and was advised that Bank 1 of Arizona (BP) has reported that I have an account with them. I have not had an account with Bank 1 since 1998. I believe that Bank 1 has reported that I have an account with them in an attempt to limit more competitive refinancing offers on an existing loan that I have for $2400.

Bank 1 appears to have violated the Federal Truth in Lending Act. I will be contacting the executive staff at JP Morgan today to take some steps to get it removed.

Bank 1 responds

YesterdayI received a letter from the President of Bank 1 and the letter appears to indicate that Bank 1 has contacted all three major credit reporting bureaus to correct the erroneous information.

Based on this new information, it would appear that my complaint is resolved. I will followup with the credit bureaus within 30 days to confirm that their records have been purified.

Bank 1 has been sued for usary

Attached is a link to pending and past lawsuits against Bank 1 http://www.pirg.org/consumer/bankrupt/bankrupt2.htm#one

The list is not intended to be a complete list of all actions against Bank 1 -- either past or present.

The current docket would seem to indicate that Bank 1 can not be trusted for its terms of service
and may be guilty of usary.

Just wondering... Bank 1 was sued in a class action suit

Can you tell me what it was that they did???

"Bank 1 does not have clean hands -- only a few years ago, Bank 1 was sued in a class action suit in one of the largest scams in history. I know because I received a notice of class action suit against them."

Counter Rebuttal: Bank 1 does not have clean hands

For your information, I have contacted William Harrison CEO of JP Morgan Trust and requested him to remove the incorrect entry from the Experian, Transunion, and Equifax records and he has failed to respond.

More often than not, credit bureaus will not even allow a 100 word or less consumer statement disputing incorrect reportings by lenders and the reason why is that each year banks pay millions of dollars to consumer reporting agencies for the priviledge of reporting their experiences to these the credit bureaus. I have personally met several people who were unable to get the 3 major credit bureaus to clean up their files or to get the bureaus to allow a 100 word consumer statement.

Bank 1 does not have clean hands -- only a few years ago, Bank 1 was sued in a class action suit in one of the largest scams in history. I know because I received a notice of class action suit against them.

As a general rule, the best thing to do is to report a complaint to the attorney general in the event that a bank or credit bureau is unwilling to follow the law. Even if the attorney general won't do anything, their records serve as repository for class action suits filed by attorneys. Generally any attorney general will give you their filings for a nominal charge.

You can say all you want about Bank 1, but the fact of the matter is that Bank 1 told consumer info.com that I have an account that just doesn't exist.

Looks like Bank 1 may be trying to use big letters and the federal system to try and justify their theft, fraud, and conversion of the american money system as well as hide the truth.

And the truth is that if they were any more crooked you could screw them into the ground.

Banks are Federally regulated and will not risk legalities over your credit report or to hinder you getting other offers

People apparently don't realize that with millions of credit records changed daily, mistakes do happen on a credit bureau report. Banks are Federally regulated and will not risk legalities over your credit report or to hinder you getting other offers. Try doing a credit bureau dispute. You may not have a checking or savings account, but if you still owe 2400 on a loan account with Bank One, then that's a legitimate account on your report. If it's simply an account showing on your report, you just need to have Bank One report it closed. Remember that things can stay on your credit for up to 7 yrs from the last date reported if it's negative information, and positive information can stay on for a lifetime. So just because you closed it in 1998 doesn't mean it won't show.
