I adopted an adult dog from Jr's Pups.  I was told she was from a hoarding situation.  I was not told of the impact this has on the cognitive development of dogs, or do I believe Jr's staff is knowledgeable about this.  As a result I  have a dog for which I spend up to $150 a month on meds and pet therapy.  I have never had the joy of having my hand licked or having my dog come lean against me.  I have an animal for which I provide vet care and food, not a family pet.

Anyone considering adopting from Jr's Pups needs to perform their own assessment of the dog to be sure it is mentally and physically ready to be with a family.

Make sure the dog can:

Accept touch and handling
Make eye contact
Take treats from Hand
Allow person to sit in proximit to dog
Walk outside
Walk near other people or dogs

I did not see any of the above behaviors shown by the dog in the home in which it was being fostered.  I have learned a great deal since then but don't want anyone to go through what I have.

I am happy to provide additional information if I can be of assistance
