My 80 year old mother was convinced by Jewelry TV that the gems she bought through their television channel were an investment and would soon be more valuable than the price she paid. She spent $5,000 on gems and now has a significant amount of credit card debt.

Upon contacting the company the first customer service rep said if I gather the details of the purchases they would refund with a 15% - 25% restocking fee even though the items were beyond their normal return timeframe. Upon calling back with the details 30 days later I was told that I would have to write a letter and would then most likely be allowed to return with no restocking fee. After writing the letter I was told that no return would be allowed.

I am surprised that they can claim that their gems are an investment without having to give more disclaimers. I have since watched their channel and am shocked at the level of deceptive things they say. As a salesperson myself I would be afraid that I would be sued for fraud if I were stating things were a good investment if they were not.

I would like to find a way to gain some sort of financial satisfaction from pursuing them.
