A million thanks to everyone that's taken the time and effort to share their bad experiences with Jubilee Academy and their affiliates.

Were it not for this valuable input, I too would have fallen victim to their well-disguised scams. After prayerfully considering these numerous allegations, I thought it wisest to cancel our enrollment. However, I admit I was still uncertain as to whether or not I'd done the right thing. After all, one can't believe everything they read on-line. ; )

Thankfully, God in his infinite love worked it out so that I could be SURE that I'd made the right decision. Jubilee accidentally sent out the 3rd and 6th grade material I'd ordered, after I'd already cancelled, so I was able to examine their curriculum personally. What I discovered horrified me!!!

Please read the following in its entirety, as I have saved the worst for last.

Upon first opening the package, I noticed several of the books (all but one of which are paperback, BTW) were permanently bent from the poor packing job.
Next thing I noticed was that the very a-bridged version of Ben-Hur, for use with 6th grade English, had a 99 cents sticker on the cover! In addition, the 3rd grade English workbook was published in 1996 by Scholastic! Which in my opinion isn't even worth the 99 cents! The remainder consisted of an eclectic collection of worthless, over generalized, dollar store -type materials, riddled with typographical errors and out-of -date information.

But the most disturbing discovery was of a book written by Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor, titled, The Greatest Story Ever Sold-A considered and Whimsical Illumination of the Really Good Parts of Holy Writ. Besides, the obvious inappropriate title, the dedication to Oprah Winfrey inside the cover, alerted me to investigate further.

This piece of trash was nothing but a complete mockery of our perfect Lord and Savior, and everything His Holy Word stands for. I was absolutely sickened by the content, its vulgarity, and r-rated nature. Even a non-Christian parent would never want their 3rd grader (or any age child for that matter), to be exposed to such vile, indecent, and adult content!

Obviously, I am grateful that our family was spared from the nightmare of this sad excuse of a curriculum. But I felt it my obligation as a Christian and a concerned parent to expose this insincere organization to as many consumers as possible. I am convinced that Mimi Rothschild is not the Christian she claims to be, but that her many aliases, companies, and web-sites are all designed to cover up her true evil intentions of destroying our precious children's beliefs while under the disguise of a Christian education. I pray that she and anyone else involved in her scheming institutions will repent and turn to our merciful Lord and Savior for forgiveness.

If you are reading this, and still have doubts of your own, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE research the facts thoroughly and ask God for guidance before making the mistake of supporting this dangerously deceptive scheme.

P.S. Feel free to contact me if you'd like additional detailed information.

We were ripped off, too.

The web site advertized such a wonderful program.  It seemed like their program would make homeschooling much easier.  The prices for private school were going up and this seemed like a painless way to transition into home schooling.  We were sorely mistaken.

To call their curriculum is weak would be an understatement.  Their record- keeping system will certainly leave you wanting.  I would be embarrassed if I had developed any part of their program and would seriously question those that endorsed it.  It is largely busywork and links to free websites.  The super-expensive "Books" that we received were merely cheap booklets.  They don't let you see the material before purchase due to "copyright" concerns.  I truly believe that if anyone could actually review it before purchasing, no one would.

We withdrew our 3rd grader after 2 weeks, because it was so below par for him.  My 1st grader could easily do my 3rd grader's assignments.  We kept our 1st grader in, hoping that the lessons would get better and actually pack some substance.  We began borrowing home school resources from the library to supplement her education because Jubilee just wasn't coming close to hitting the mark.

The worst part happened over Christmas break.  The academy just disappeared.  Gone.  We couldn't find it on the internet anywhere, from any computer, (ours, friends, library, etc.).  There was no trace of the school.  We called the one number that we had for them repeatedly.  It just rang and rang.  No recording, no answer- nothing.  We tried all through break to contact them by phone and online.  Finally, we had to do the unthinkable- put our baby in public school.  The private school she came from did not have any openings.  We had already invested so much in Jubilee there wasn't enough time or money to start another program mid-year.

The icing on the cake was this: I just got a BILL from Jubilee for the month of April.  Mind you, we stopped paying in January when they disappeared, (and would have officially withdrawn if we were able to contact them).  How in the world they came up with a bill for April, I do not know.  What amazes me the most is that there was no explanation of why they disappeared and no apology.  The website boasts that their staff have a "passion for communicating."  No one ever contacted us- until the Bill they sent me at midnight, (via email) on 5/1.  What did they expect us to do- sit and wait for them to resurface?

Horrifying.  An absolutely horrifying experience.

Thank You for posting your complaint here at RipOffReport.

I am so sorry for the bad experience you have had with Jubilee Academy and its affiliates but I have to admit that it is refreshing that another person has come forward to tell of their experience with this scam of a company. I hope more and more people benefit from the bad experiences of a few and heed the warning to STAY AWAY FROM JUBILEE ACADEMY, LEARNING BY GRACE, MORNINGSTAR ACADEMNY AND whatever other names they will create to duck under the radar of unsuspecting home school families.

I hope your school year goes wonderfully!

Ours has started out amazingly well and we are excited as we venture into our new school year with Alpha Omega's Switched on School House. I can't rave enough about how wondeful this curriculum is. I had to call technical support for a question that I had about installation and I actually talked to a real live technical support person who KNEW what they were talking about. The whole call took 10 minutes, less than 1 minute on hold, and my issue was resolved with professionalism and a great Christian attitude. Amazing how Jubilee can't understand that THAT is the quality of customer service that people are looking for.

God Bless You In Your School Year!!!

Kathy
