Complaint Review: Judge Charles Dorsey

Judge Dorsey found me guilty of 2 counts of contempt (he only had to review his case transcripts to know I was not guilty and the opposing counsel was relying on his lack of memory and inflated ego to persuade his answer) and ignored the nearly 100 counts of contempt against my ex husband,..which were PROVEN facts and I even had video of break in attempts.

Judge Dorsey read a fraudulent document by a "counselor" (who was under multiple investigations for fraud - those details were left out by DSS however). With that report from the doctor (losing/lost his license) and his mistakes of finding me in contempt without reviewing his own records, he found me guilty on 2 counts of contempt, sentenced my to 6 days in jail, declared my 6 year old to be in "imminent danger" (because I took her on Christmas vacation a few days earlier than school let out. Seriously!!), found me guilty of neglect and abuse (for the same event of taking her on Christmas Holiday to be with family...which he himself approved in an earlier court date) and handed her over to Roanoke County DSS and placed an no contact order between myself and my 6 year old. This child has never been away from me in her life. She has been previously diagnosed with OCD (trichotillomania) and acute trauma disorder from her bio father walking out on the family to persue a life of drugs 2 years prior. She was succeeding in treatment for this, but that info was completely omitted by DSS when presenting the case to the Judge. He refused to listen to any of my daughter's counselors who came to court to testify on her behalf.

There had never been a single complaint to DSS about any suspected abuse or neglect on my 6 year old. My 6 year old told them she was very happy and felt safe with myself and her "daddy" (my new husband) and she did not want to see Kevin (her bio dad) because she was afraid of him.

so, based on a fraudulent report from a counselor that DSS paid for a specific diagnosis; combined with the 2 counts of contempt which he had proof were not substantiated, Judge Dorsey:

found me guilty of contempt on 2 charges

sentenced to me jail for 6 days and gave me a criminal record

found me guilty of neglect and abuse for taking my daughter on vacation for Christmas (with his prior consent, mind you)

refused rebuttal from my attorney.

scolded me about my "parenting" problems

and most importantly, removed and healthy, happy, free spirited, innocent and trusting little 6 year old and placed her into DSS custody. they refuse to speak to me. i don't know where my daughter is. how my daughter is. who she is seeing for treatment. whether I get to visit her soon.

they also took my 6 year old to see her 15 year old sister she hasn't seen in 2 years (further traumatizing her) and have openly discussed ruling out my family members as placement options because they felt "foster care was the least restrictive for her success" (which she was proven to not be lacking in the first place). they've discussed sending her to my biological mother whom we are estranged from and hasn't seen us in 2 years, with a LONG standing history of violence and abuse. they also refuse to put Jennifer (bio mother) through any formal testing as they dragged me through with their 'special' doctors.

Judge Dorsey spoke at length in closed chambers with county DSS (who was not a part of this at all) before coming out and handing down his sentence.
