In short, my 70 year old mother has been completely conned by these ruthless individuals - complete and utter scammers.

In August 2014 she had an issue with her yahoo email account, looked up on google I believe, got herself in a panic and called a company who she believed was 'yahoo' customer support.  It was actually known as 'Trove Tech Solutions' or 'Trove IT Solutions' and is based in Delhi. On their website trovetechsolutions.com (which has since been taken down) they had an address in London and the USA. I actually visited the address in London and the company at this address had never heard of 'trove tech.'

Anyway, my mother foolishly provided these scammers with remote access to her laptop, they locked her out and then asked for £300 approx to ''fix'' it and offer a 'service' where they provide so called PC remote support. She paid up for some kind of fake 'licence.'

In April 2015 my mother received a call from these people and to cut a long story short, she was coerced into paying another 1045 US dollars via Western Union for ''system support.'' It was for a so called 'Lifetime Security Software.'' Account ID TIS15041002. Her bank contacted her to authorise payment and the above amount was duly processed. My mother did not tell anyone about the episode until she started to believe that it was a con, a couple of days after paying the above. At that point, it was too late. She has tried to recover the monies (via the conmen and via her bank) to no avail. This was a very expensive mistake and we appear to have no way in taking it further and recovering over £1000 sterling that she has effectively handed the fraudsters!   Is there anything that we can do?
