Jumpline.com Jumpline Charged for free trial, refused to refund. Columbus, Ohio
This company ran a promotion for a "trial" of their hosting service. I signed up to try it out at that time and was told all I had to do was cancel through the control panel link and I wouldn't ever be charged. I canceled about 6 months ago becuase their service was poor. The panel stated my account was closed and I called to confirm this was the case. I also tried loging in and it said it was invalid. And they even sent me an e-mail saying it was closed. So I forgot about it assuming it was done with. All of a sudden I see a charge for nearly $300 appear from them on my credit card. Initially I thought it was fraud since, honestly I forgot about them. When I called to ask them if they could see who was using my card, they informed me they had billed my supposidly closed account. They claimed it was still active and refused to refund me when I told them it should be closed and I haven't used it in months (the domain was even expired). They even had the nerve to try to demand a "chargeback fee" when I issued a chargeback and are claiming they sent me two notices about the pending bill. I haven't heard from them since my account was closed. They made a mistake (didn't properly close my account) and are trying to leave me to foot their bill!
Let this be a lesson to avoid Jumpline and always use a protected payment method online (Credit/debit Card).
