Juniper Bank, which is not a public company, has deceptive policies regarding the interest rate they offer and what goes on the bill.

Originally, my interest rate was 14.99% (reasonable) and after several months, I opened a statement, my wife normally pays the bills, to find the rate had gone to 22.99%. I called immediately to find the reason for the increase. The first person I spoke with said we missed a payment and they could not assist me in reducing the rate. After requesting to speak to her supervisor it was determined the minimum payment was increased and the auto payment through our bank needed to be increased.

Forty-five days later, I access my information on the internet and find the rate had not been adjusted. I called again today and was told they have no record of the conversation and could not assist me. There was also no supervisor on duty. No one was in the building except the phone reps. The single manager on duty had stepped out and would need to call me back.

This is scandalous, arbitrarily changing interest rates and allowing the phone reps to confuse the situation with half truths and lie about their efforts to rectify the situation. How much money do you think this private company makes off of consumers by making this kind change? No wonder they are not public, they would need to show their profits and disclose the reason they are so much higher then their competition.
