My husband passed away late Feb. 2009. I notified the credit card company promptly and sent a certified death certificate. I received a letter from the card services dept. expressing condolences and thanking me for providing documentation. My husband had purchased the "protection plan", so the balance was to be paid off upon his death.

Letters addressed to my husband have arrived monthly since then. The content varies between 3 different formats. One stating he does not respond to their e-mails, one saying he is behind and the protection plan is being suspended and one thanking me for notifying them of his passing and requesting documentation (I did send another copy,at my additional expense, along with photocopies of all the other letters I had gotten). Then, beginning at the new year, statements from Juniper Mastercard started coming with an ever increasing balance due.

I have called card services every month. Each time I am put on hold numerous times, given countless excuses for why it has been such a f *** up and assured it will be resolved, as well as being told it IS noted that documentation was received. The last call (2/23/10) I was informed the account was in "transition" to a different department and there was no phone number for them, and customers were not allowed to contact them. I was told I could deal with Barclay directly but ONLY in writing. No phone number or e-mail could/would be available. The address given for Barclay corporate headquarters was the same P.O. box I had been given previously.

This last statement has come just days before the one year anniversary of my husbands passing. I am STILL trying to clear up this mess and to say I am now an emotional wreck is an understatement.

Thank you for your time and atention.
