My wife took my Dodge Ram pickup in for the 99.88 service last Friday, April 12th.

On examination, they stated I needed what totaled 579.18 worth of work. She told them not to do anything until she talked with me. They stated they had already started turning the rotors, and that the minimum charge was 99.88.

I went up there (took off work to do so), and was told the front calipers weren't releasing and needed to be rebuilt, the rear cylinders were leaking and needed replacing, and the pads and shoes were all glazed over due to the "problems" and needed to be replaced.

They told me the charge would be a minimum of 99.88 regardless of whether they replace the pads etc or not. I had them do the 99.88 service and that I wanted to old parts. I was told unless I pay a "core charge" I couldn't have the old parts, and I said fine, I would pay that.

I took the truck to another mechanic, who told me there was nothing wrong with the cylinders or the calipers. I took it to a Dodge dealer, who said the same thing. I then took the pads and shoes to another Just Brakes location and told them I was trying to "re-do" the brakes on my truck myself, and asked if these pads/shoes were ok. I was told they were fine, and were still at about 80 or 85%.

The Corporate office (Bob Marshall, Customer Relations director) was quick to point out all the Just Brakes corporate mumbo jumbo, company mantra, and philosophy, all the while mandating that unless I have another Just Brakes location look at the truck again (he chose the Hwy 6 store), that meant I had made the decision not to allow him to refund my money.

Needless to say, they've done enough work for me.
