Complaint Review: Just Brakes

I took my truck for what I thought was going to be a $100 brake job. The serviceman, Cruz, then supposedly found many other "problems" and the price tag ballooned to $450. I told him that sounded a little steep but he said my vehicle needed it or I would have to keep coming in for repairs. He also said that the repairs would take 3 hrs. 5 hrs later my vehicle was finally ready.

When I arrived, Cruz was quick to charge me the $450 but when I went outside to inspect my vehicle I noticed that one of my lug nuts had been broken. I mentioned this to Elias Cruz and he said that he would order a lug nut and it would arrive the following day for me to pick it up. Since the work had taken 2 hours longer than what was promised, I was in a hurry and agreed that I would pick up the lug nut the following day.

The following day I called the store and Cruz stated that he tried everywhere to locate the lug nut but was unsuccessful. I told him that it was hard for me to believe that he could not find a lug nut to match my vehicle in all of Houston.

I then waited a couple of hours and then called the store again and asked for the manager. The manager's name was/is Javier (I did not get his last name). I asked him that how is it possible that they could not find a lug nut and he went on to tell me that he had found the lug nut at an Isuzu dealer but it would not be in stock until Tuesday, 4 days later!!

I then hung up with him and decided to call an Isuzu dealer myself. In just 5 minutes I discovered that an Isuzu dealer within 15 miles of the store had 20 lug nuts in stock and were available for immediate pick up. I was furious!!! Both Cruz and Javier had lied to me.

I called the manager back and asked him how was it that I could locate a lug nut within 15 miles of the store (6975 Louetta Road Spring, TX 77379) in just 5 minutes with one simple phone call, yet neither Cruz or Javier could find the exact lug nut in over 24 hrs worth of supposed searching. It became very clear that they had in fact never looked for the lug nut at all. Why they would do such a thing after a customer paid over $475 in supposed brake repairs is beyond me.

Now, my point is not the $10 lug nut (I could care less), it is the principality behind the whole ordeal. Just Brakes simply does not practice what it preaches. Just Brakes preaches excellent customer service but that is a whole lot of bull.

What made this very frustrating was that I needed to discover the damage done to my lug nut myself. Just Brakes did not have the courtesy of informing me that they had damaged my lug nut. They probably thought/hoped that I would not see the damage and would drive off.

What further infuriated me was the fact that I was lied. If Cruz and Javier lied about searching for something as trivial as a lug nut then what else could they have lied about? I am having SERIOUS doubts that my vehicle required all of the repairs that they claim it did. After all, it only had 46K miles on it and they claim that it required new rotors ($62 ea), rebuilt caliphers ($100), hardware/springs ($80), the system flushed ($40), and new brakes ($100) for a total of $450.

I believe that Just Brakes either fabricated all of the issues that my vehicle supposedly needed or they did not even do what they supposedly said they would do and more importantly what I have paid for them to do!! Needless to say that I am very pissed off at Just Brakes and will NOT be returning for any more business. I also will make it a point to NOT recommend Just Brakes to everyone I know. Try somebody else because the folks at Just Brakes are NOT TO BE TRUSTED.
