Complaint Review: Just Brakes

After listening to an advertising blitz for the last 3 months about Just Brakes "$99 friction relign," I decided to take in my 1999 Accord.

Two weeks earlier, while my car was at the dealership for a recall repair, I was advised my BRAKES had 20% remaining, and the charge would be $258.

I turned to the Internet to find the nearest Just Brakes store. During my search, I encountered several articles and sites (such as this one) which all listed a similiar bait and switch scam. Nevertheless, I felt confident they would not do this to me.

I called the store at 8900 Forest Lane, Dallas, TX, and was greeted by a slimeball named Tim. He was very committed to having me show up asap. I arrived knowing that I would be told I would need more than the $99 special. Sure enough, they had the wheels removed before I knew it. As I sat back watching their con game, a Hispanic mechanic observed me nodding in dismay. We exchanged words in Spanish on the side and he agreed to make sure my car checked out OK. After Tim the Rapist presented me with a repair list exceeding $700, I presented him with copies of articles I read on the Internet, and told him I didn't trust him. Then I demanded the $99 special. I left confident my work would be done because of the mechanic. When I came back near closing, Jerk Tim would not speak to me, thank me, or explain his warranty. This prompted me to ask somber customers in the lobby if they came in for the $99 special. All three claimed yes, but were told they "metal on metal, needed new calipers, etc..." At that point, I reached over the counter to look at the completed work orders fro the day...$400, $500, $600, $700, and so on. No wonder Jerk Off Tim would not speak to me.

Let my story be a warning, and you will never have to hear "I told you so!!" PS-I had Midas perform a free brake inspection and everything (in my case) checked OK.
